1. Ryan Case Accused Juvenile to Be Tried as Adult
A 16-year-old student, accused of killing a seven-year-old boy at the Ryan International School, will be tried as an adult, the Juvenile Justice Board held today and directed he be produced before the Gurgaon Sessions court on Friday.
The JJB passed the order on a plea that the accused teenager should not be treated as a juvenile. At its last hearing on 15 December, the board had reserved its decision till Wednesday on the plea.
If convicted, he will stay in a correctional home till he is 21 years old after which the court can shift him to a jail or grant him bail, it said.
It said the accused be produced before the sessions court here on 22 December.

2. Three Arrested for Demanding Money From Film Producer
Three persons were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly demanding money from a producer in return for not uploading the latter's upcoming film on the internet.
Hyderabad police said in a release that P Sudhakar Chowdary, P Prabhakar Chowdhary and Y Vijaya Nag were arrested by the Cyber Crime Police based on the complaint by K Krishnaiah.
Police said that a few days before the release of the complainant's movie, the three accused had approached him stating that they could stop the piracy of his movie using their contacts.
They then asked for money from the producer for not uploading his movie on the internet, said police. A case had been registered and further investigations were on, police said.

3. Woman Booked for Recording Police Station Premises With Spycam
A woman has been booked under the Official Secrets Act for allegedly recording various rooms of Rabale police station in Navi Mumbai using a spycam concealed in her sunglasses.
Police said that Sapna Amarsingh Sandhu (35) was caught Tuesday morning while recording a video of the police station's premises including the duty officer room and the crime record room using a spycam concealed in her sunglasses.
The official said that the crime record room of a police station is designated as a prohibited place for photography or recording of any kind of video. He said that 17 video clips recorded in this manner were found with Sandhu.
Sandhu had filed a Right to Information plea with Rabale police and had visited the station in that connection, said the official. "We have registered an offence against the person under Sections 3 and 7 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923," the official said.

4. Nabha Jailbreak: One of the Alleged Masterminds Arrested From Delhi
The Patiala Police on Wednesday claimed to have nabbed one of the gangsters who played a key role in the sensational Nabha jailbreak from the Indira Gandhi International Airport, police said.
Inderjit Singh was travelling from Jordan to New Delhi with a fake passport, they said. A Look Out Circular (LOC) notice was already issued by the Patiala Police against the accused, the police said.
"The accused was one of the masterminds of the Nabha jail break case and was instrumental in providing logistical support, managing finances and providing hideouts to the gangsters involved in the Nabha Jail break case," a police official said.
A group of armed men stormed the Nabha jail in police uniform and managed to free six prisoners – Harminder Singh Mintoo, Kashmir Singh, two terrorists, and gangsters Amandeep Dhothian, Vicky Gounder, Gurpreet Sekhon and Neeta Deol, from the maximum security jail at Nabha in Patiala district on 27 November last year.

5. Former TV Host Ilyasi Gets Life Imprisonment for Killing Wife
A Delhi court on Wednesday sentenced former TV anchor and producer Suhaib Ilyasi to life imprisonment for killing his wife Anju more than 17 years ago, saying he "committed murder and gave it a colour of suicide".
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh on Ilyasi, who was convicted on 16 December for stabbing to death his wife and also directed that Rs 10 lakh would be paid as compensation to parents of Anju which would be borne by him.
Rukma Singh, Anju's mother, expressed satisfaction over the court's order and said, "I am satisfied with the verdict as long as he is convicted I am fine."
Anju was rushed to a hospital on 11 January 2000 with stab wounds she received at her East Delhi residence.
Suhaib, who had shot into limelight after hosting TV crime show 'India's Most Wanted', was arrested on 28 March 2000 and later charges were framed against him in the case after his sister-in-law and mother-in-law alleged that he used to torture his wife for dowry.

6. Man Sentenced to 3 Years' Jail for Firing at Police Team
The NCR district court sentenced a man to three years' imprisonment under Section 307 of the IPC for firing at a police team in 2013.
The accused, Pappu, alias Ashok, was arrested after he fired at a team of police personnel on 26 October 2013, near Kot canal ridge in Dadri town.
He had initially claimed to have been falsely implicated but confessed to the crime in the court later. He had surrendered before the court on 14 March 2014, and had since then been in jail.
"Pappu, alias Ashok, was awarded imprisonment of three years and fine of Rs 1000 under IPC Section 307 for firing at a police team by the additional session judge," Senior Prosecution Officer Lalit Mudgal said.

7. Man Sets Wives Afire for Not Keeping His Mother Happy
In a shocking incident, a man set his two wives on fire allegedly for not keeping his mother happy.
The accused, Deepa Ram, on Tuesday took his two wives Daria Devi (25) and Mali Devi (27) in his car on the pretext of buying them jewellery, the police said. Ram claimed that he was unhappy with them due to some family matters and as they did not keep his mother happy, Additional SP Jalore Binja Ram said.
"In the moving car, he quarrelled with them. As the car lost balance, he stopped," Binja Ram said. Meanwhile, one of his wives got out of the car seeking the help of locals but he managed to push her inside and drove away again, the police said.
After some distance, he came out of the car, locked it and set the vehicle on fire, Ram said, adding both his wives were charred to death. The accused works as a labourer in Gujarat and is father of three children. He has confessed to the crime and was arrested, the police said.

8. UP Women's Commission Condemns Killing of Girl in Muzaffarnagar
The Uttar Pradesh State Commission for Women on Wednesday condemned the killing of an 18- year-old girl who was returning home from college in the state's Shamli district.
The girl, a Class 12 student, was allegedly killed with a sharp-edged weapon by a man who had made unsuccessful advances to her at Ghar Shayam village in Kandhla police station area in the district on 13 December.
A member of the state women commission visited the victim's family and assured that strict action will be taken against the accused. Meanwhile, agitated people of the community took a candle-light procession over the incident. They will also demonstrate at the district headquarters on Thursday.
The main accused Amarpal Gujjar (26) was arrested by the police on 15 December and a hunt was on to arrest three other unidentified men involved in the crime, the police said.

9. Mexican Journalist Shot Dead at Primary School Christmas Party
Attackers burst into an elementary school Christmas party in Mexico and shot reporter Gumaro Perez to death, making him at least the 10th journalist slain in Mexico this year in what observers have called a crisis of freedom of expression.
The Veracruz state security coordinator said in a statement that dozens of parents and children were present when the unidentified attackers shot Perez, whose own child attends the school in the city of Acayucan.
"He belonged to the preventive program for safe coverage of this Commission since 2015, which refers to mechanisms for reporting that diminish danger in high-risk events," the Veracruz State Commission for Attention and Protection of Journalists said in a statement.
Adelina Mendoza, Perez's widow, said in an interview published by the local branch of the online news outlet E- Consulta that for the last year she had begged him to leave journalism and open a restaurant with her, but he refused.
