1. Wrestling Coach Booked for Raping 18-Yr-Old Trainee
A 22-year-old assistant wrestling coach, identified as Ajay Malik, was arrested on Thursday, 10 May, by Sakkardara police in Nagpur following a complaint of sexual assault from an 18-year-old survivor.
She was allegedly violated by Malik under the pretext of teaching her massaging skills for building muscles and increasing strength at his residence at Om Nagar.
The survivor, who is appearing in her college examination now, had joined the wrestling camp at Binzani ground for learning the skill. The camp is being conducted by a senior coach whom Malik assisted. The survivor had been training under Malik for the last few days.
Police said Malik had tried to lure the survivor by offering her tips to massage skills and body-building techniques for having a muscular structure useful for such demanding sports. He insisted that she accompany him to his residence.

2. Man Killed Over Failed Relationship
Four persons have been arrested and two girls apprehended for allegedly killing a man over a failed relationship, the police said on Friday, 11 May. The motive was to take revenge for insulting the mother of an accused, they added.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East) Chinmoy Biswal said the accused have been identified as Shiv Kumar alias Rahul (29), Ravi (20), Sumit (20), and Parve (23) and two 16-year-old girls.
The police found an unidentified half-burnt body in Tughlakabad in Delhi on 6 May with multiple stab injuries. He was identified as Neeraj, a resident of Faridabad, after Haryana Police traced his phone’s location to Govindpuri.
“When he did not return home, his family filed a missing report. They reached Govindpuri to find him. The Delhi team showed them the picture, after which he was identified,” said a senior police officer.

3. Two Arrested in Cheating Case Filed by TOI Editor
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai police on Friday, 11 May, arrested two more in the cheating case filed by a senior editor of The Times of India (TOI) against his personal assistant and others.
The two accused and 18 others arrested earlier were remanded in police custody till 15 May by a metropolitan magistrate on Friday. Amit Mayekar, the main accused in the case, is on the run, and police have told the court that they had found the money trail in the case.
On Friday, Neha Pawar (38), a relative of Mayekar and Kiran Kale (40), an alleged conspirator, were arrested and brought to the court along with the previously arrested 18 accused. “They claimed in the court that they had no idea about a crime being committed. Yet all of them withdrew their share and managed to pass on the money to Amit Mayekar. This proves they were party to the fraud,” said public prosecutor Rajendra Suryavanshi.

4. Six Arrested for Duping People in the Pretext of Helping Them with ATMs
Six people were arrested from Ahmedabad highway for robbing people at the ATM kiosks. The accused are from Uttar Pradesh and have also committed similar crimes there.
According to the police, the accused targeted customers who are not familiar using the ATMs.
They have committed crimes in Thane, Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar, Nalasopara, Mumbra, Kopri, Panvel, Padgha, Dahisar, Bhiwandi, Kalyan and Shahpur.Posing as customers, they would stand behind the victim in a queue. They would then offer to help them.
“The accused would notice the PIN while the customer punched in. The accused would pretend to help but after saying that the machine has stopped working, return the victim a duplicate card. After the victim would leave the ATM, the accused withdrew the money from his account,” said Jairaj Ranaware, senior police inspector, Thane Crime Branch, unit 5.

5. Two Held for Raping 65-Yr-Old Who Resisted Robbery
A criminal and his accomplice, who had gone on a snatching spree and also allegedly raped an elderly woman last week in Dankaur, Uttar Pradesh were arrested on Friday, 11 May.
The accused have been identified as Raja Mohammad (30), a resident of Rajpur in Hapur and Abdul (25), a native of Baghpat. Piyush Kumar Singh, circle officer, Greater Noida II, said the police had received information about the movement of criminals.
Two country-made guns, seven live cartridges, four stolen earrings, two anklets, one ring and a TVS Apache bike were seized. During interrogation, the accused said that on 4 May afternoon, they had reached Mandi Shyamnagar village on a TVS Apache bike. Their accomplice Praveen and Dilshad were on an another bike.
The criminals found four women sitting outside their homes and asked them to hand over the earrings and anklets at gunpoint. The women got scared and handed over the jewellery to criminals.

6. Man Found With Throat Partially Slit
A 50-year-old man was found with his throat partially slit in his own backyard at Muvattupuzha in Kochi on Friday, 11 May.
The injured, identified as Unnikrishnan of Muvattupuzha, was admitted to Kolancherry Medical College, and his condition remains critical with his windpipe also found ruptured.
The Muvattupuzha police have registered a case for attempted murder, though officials suspect it to be more of a case of attempted suicide. The knife used to inflict the wound was recovered from the kitchen. A widower with two adult children, the man was found lying near the cremation site of his wife. He once used to be a dairy farmer but had no proper job of late, the police said.
Unnikrishnan was first found by his son’s friend. He raised an alarm, following which neighbours rushed Unnikrishnan to hospital where ENT surgeons performed an emergency surgery.

7. Haryana Man Kills Pregnant Sister
A Dalit youth in Sonipat district shot dead his 25-year-old sister on Thursday, 10 May, allegedly for marrying against the wishes of family three years back. According to police, Nikko, who was six months pregnant, was killed in her in-laws’ house at Lath village of Sonipat district.
SHO of Gohana police station Sethi Malik told The Indian Express that the accused, Vikram (35), along with his two accomplishes, ran away from the spot after the crime. “We are conducting raids to arrest them.”
On Thursday afternoon, Vikram, along with two friends, reached her home in Lath village and fired a bullet on her neck when she was sleeping. The police believe the accused was carrying a local-made pistol. Nikko was rushed to a hospital in neighbouring Khanpur Kalan but the doctors declared her brought dead.

8. Techie Held in Mumbai for Sending Bulk Messages to MMRCL Director
The Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) police on Thursday, 11 May, arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly forwarding bulk messages asking people to give a missed call to the director of Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL), if they wanted to save Aarey Colony’s green cover.
“A message was sent in the month of January to around 2.5 to 3 lakh people on their mobile phones, which stated that if they wanted to save Aarey Colony and stop the construction of Metro car shed then they should give a missed call on the given number. The number was of Ashwini Bhide, director, MMRCL,” said an officer from BKC police station.
Police said a first information report (FIR) was registered on 18 January under Section 186 of the Indian Penal Code and 43(F) and 66 of the Information and Technology (IT) Act.

9. Woman Arrested for Hiring Contract Killers to Murder Son
Patna police on Friday, 11 May, arrested a woman fed up of her son’s lawlessness and hired contract killers and got him murdered him on Monday, 7 May.
Renu Devi and the three persons, who allegedly carried out her son Mintoo Ram’s (40) killing, have been arrested and a pistol used in the crime has been recovered from them.
On 7 May, the Bakhatiyarpur police had recovered Mintoo’s body from behind Akash hotel at Taal area. Patna SSP, Manu Maharaaj said, “It was a challenge to solve the case as during initial probe we came across evidences that indicated his mother, Renu Devi’s involvement.”
Mintoo’s wife, Anju Devi, had lodged a murder case after his body was recovered, and later, when questioned, revealed that he and Renu used to quarrel daily over some issue or the other.
