1. Jamia Student Found Dead in Car, May Have Killed Self Over ‘Love’

A 20-year-old student from Jamia Milia Islamia University was found dead in his car with a gunshot to his right temple, in Delhi’s Sarojini Nagar on Tuesday, 5 December.

The man’s body was discovered with a country-made pistol grasped in his right hand. Although no suicide note has been recovered, the police suspect prima facie that it is a case of suicide. The man has been identified as Rizwan.

However, Rizwan’s family suspects foul play. Rizwan, a hockey player, was pursuing BA in Jamia and lived with his parents and three siblings in Tihar Gaon.

Rizwan’s elder brother, Riyazuddin Khan, claimed that at the time of his death, Rizwan was carrying Rs 2 lakh, which was to be delivered to a client on Monday, 4 December. He left home in his car, but when he failed to return by 10 pm, the family became worried.

2. Boy Kidnaps 5-Yr-Old for Rs 20 Lakh Ransom, Drowns Her in Panic

A 16-year-old boy in Haryana allegedly killed a five-year-old girl by drowning her in a water tub, after kidnapping her for a ransom, the police said on Thursday, 7 December.

The boy was apprehended around 1 am on 7 December after the police traced the ransom call to a house that was rented to his brother-in-law by the girl's father, Superintendent of Police (SP), Ambala, Abhishek Jorwal said.

The 16-year-old had hid the body in a water cooler, after drowning her in the water tub, the SP added.

The boy lured the girl to his house on the evening of Wednesday, 6 December, when she was playing outside her residence. The victim's family started searching for her after she did not return home and later informed the police, he said.

3. Two Men, Including a Cop, Allegedly Rape Woman in New Delhi

A 32-year-old woman has alleged that two men, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector of the Delhi Police, raped her, in the outer Nangloi area of New Delhi, police said on Thursday, 7 December.

Both the accused have been arrested, police said.

The woman, in a complaint, told the police that she was looking for a rented accommodation in Nangloi area and met one of the accused, a property dealer.

The man called her on Tuesday on the pretext of showing her a room. He also called the ASI and the duo allegedly raped the woman.

She somehow managed to escape, the police said, adding that she informed the police, following which both were arrested.

4. Labourer Set on Fire Over ‘Jihad’ Suspicion, One Arrested

Rajasthan police arrested one man for allegedly hacking and setting on fire a Muslim labourer in Rajasthan's Rajsamand for committing “jihad”. The alleged killer shared a video on social media of him attacking Mohammad Afrazul, on Wednesday, 6 December, before he poured kerosene on him and sets him ablaze.

The accused, identified as Shambu Lal Raigar, is seen in the video ranting against "jihad.” The accused is then seen saying that anyone who commits “jihad” will meet the same fate.

Police said Raigar was arrested from Rajsamand, about five hours from the Rajasthan capital of Jaipur, on Thursday, 7 December, based on the video circulated online.

5. Nephew Kills Patna Jail Warden, Self

A prison warden was shot dead on Thursday, 7 December, inside the premises of the Beur Central Jail in Patna by his nephew, who then took his own life, police said.

Vishal Kumar Singh (21) is believed to have had an affair with his uncle Santosh Kumar Singh’s daughter, something that his uncle, the warden, must have disapproved of, Superintendent of City (West), Patna, Ravinder Kumar, told PTI.

The assailant took his own life by shooting himself after killing his maternal uncle at the police quarters where they stayed.

The country-made pistol used in the crime has been seized, Kumar said.

"Vishal shot himself immediately after killing his uncle. Hearing the gunshots, people living in the neighbourhood informed the police," the SP said, adding that they were taken to a hospital, where they were declared 'brought dead'.

6. Man Gets 43-Year Jail Term for Raping Daughter, Intimidating Wife

A Mahila Court in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, on Wednesday, 6 December, convicted and sentenced a 48-year old man to three terms of life imprisonment for raping and impregnating his 14-year daughter in July 2013.

Judge Jacintha Martin, on Wednesday, sentenced the accused Kamaraj of Arasankudi village, to undergo 43 years of imprisonment, including one year of rigorous imprisonment, for raping his daughter several times since July 2013 and intimidating his wife to ensure her silence.

According to the prosecution, Kamaraj impregnated the girl, who on 5 March 2015, gave birth, but the newborn died in June the same year. Unable to bear the heinous crime, the mother lodged a complaint in December 2014.

7. Seven Nabbed in Connection to Delhi’s Mansarovar Park Murder Case

The Crime Branch arrested two persons on Thursday, 7 December, in connection with the 7 October murder of an octogenarian woman and her three daughters in their house in Mansarovar Park in New Delhi’s Shahdara.

A day earlier on Wednesday, 6 December, the police had arrested five person. A senior official said the five people arrested by the police are related to the security guard, who was also killed along with the women.

The bodies of Urmila Jindal (82), her daughters – Sangeeta Gupta (56), Nupur Jindal (48) and Anjali Jindal (38), and their security guard Rakesh (42) were found with multiple stab wounds on 7 October inside their apartment in Jindal Oil Mills building.

8. Hasini Rape Case: Accused Dhasvanth Escapes a Day After Arrest

A day after Dhasvanth – accused in the murder and sexual assault of seven-year-old Hasini in Chennai and a suspect in the murder of his mother – was arrested, he escaped from police custody.

According to a top police official, Dhasvanth was handcuffed and going to the toilet in Mumbai's Vile Parle area, near Hotel Satellite, when he escaped from custody.

The incident reportedly took place at 4:30 pm on Thursday, 7 December. While the accused’s escort was eating lunch at a hotel, Dhasvanth reportedly pushed away other policemen and made an escape.

The Mumbai Police has been put on high alert and all local police stations and DCPs have been asked to keep an eye out for Dhasvanth in their jurisdiction.

9. Restaurant Helper Arrested for Decamping With Employer's Money

A 29-year-old man, who lived in New Delhi, was arrested for allegedly decamping with Rs 8 lakh his employer had given him to deposit in a bank, police said on Thursday, 7 December.

On December 4, Vikas Kumar approached the Nehru Place Metro police station with a complaint, they said.

Kumar, a manager of a restaurant-cum-bar, allegedly gave Rs 8 lakh to Jiwan Thapa, who worked as a helper at the restaurant, to deposit it in a bank, the police said.

He alleged that Thapa fled with the amount without depositing it.

On the basis of a tip-off, Thapa was nabbed from Nanpara in Bahrain while trying to go towards Nepal on 6 December, and the stolen amount recovered from him, said Pankaj Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Nehru Place.
