1. Wife of ND Tiwari's Son Rohit Shekhar "Prime Suspect" in Murder: Report

Rohit Shekhar Tiwari's wife Apoorva and two house helps have been taken into custody for questioning by the Delhi Police. Sources said the police are looking at Apoorva as the prime suspect in the murder case, news agency PTI reported on Sunday.

The Delhi Police on Thursday registered a case of murder into the death of Rohit Shekhar, the son of former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Congress stalwart ND Tiwari, hours after his autopsy report stated that he died after being strangled. The case has been transferred to the Crime Branch for investigation.

2. Two, Including ‘Cattle Thief’, Shot Dead in Greater Noida

A villager was killed in a scuffle with alleged cattle thieves in Greater Noida on Sunday morning. The incident took place around 4:30 am when three people entered Jarcha’s Khurshidpura, allegedly to steal buffaloes. Police said the villager, Ratan Singh (60), confronted the men and was shot dead. One of the alleged thieves was shot dead as well.

3. Keenan-Reuben Murder Case: Cops Scrutinise Protection Plea

The application for police protection sought by Valerian Santos, father of Amboli youth Keenan Santos, who along with his friend Reuben Fernandez was killed outside a bar in 2011, is being scrutinised by the Mumbai police. While the local police confirmed that they have received an application seeking protection from Santos, they will be passing it on to the protection branch which decides on these matters. In a letter to the police commissioner and Amboli and DN Nagar police, Santos claimed that the convict, Jitendra Rana, might try to influence the case.

4. Rajasthan Congress MLA Booked for Rape

A case of rape has been registered against Rajasthan Congress MLA Johari Lal Meena, with the complainant accusing the 77-year-old legislator of threatening and exploiting her after filming the sexual assault.

Police said the woman, a 38-year-old widow, has registered a case through court against Meena. The MLA had won the Rajgarh Laxmangarh seat, which falls under Alwar district, with a margin of over 30,000 votes in last year’s Assembly polls.

5. 70-Year-Old Held for Raping Minor in Northeast Delhi

A 70-year-old man was arrested Sunday for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl in northeast Delhi's Jyoti Nagar area, police said.

According to a senior police officer, the victim and the accused are neighbours.

A case has been registered and the accused and he was arrested, he said.

6. Woman Kidnapped, Raped by 4 Men in UP's Muzaffarnagar

A 23-year-old woman was allegedly kidnapped and raped by four men here, police said Sunday.

The incident took place on Saturday in Jhaberpur village which comes under the jurisdiction of Purkazi police station.

According to a complaint lodged by the woman's family, she was kidnapped by the four men in a car who took her to a nearby sugarcane field and raped her, said SSP Virender Singh.

The accused had also recorded the act, he said, adding that a probe into the matter was underway.

7. Kidnapped Rajasthan Bride Rescued From Dehradun; 6 Arrested In Case

The newlywed bride who was kidnapped by a group of armed men on gun point in Rajasthan's Sikar district has been rescued from Dehradun, police said on Sunday.

Two more arrests have been made in the case, they said. Four persons had been arrested earlier.

8. Private bus Staff Thrash Passengers in Kerala, Force Them out

The staff of a private traveller in Kerala are seen beating up two passengers and forcing them out of the bus early on Sunday morning, in a video that is going viral on social media. The passengers were going from Haripad in Alappuzha district of Kerala to Bengaluru, and had a heated exchange with the driver of the bus the previous night, according to other passengers. The staffers of the private traveller, Kallada Travels, then decided to assault the two men.

9. 45-Year-Old Dies After Being Shot Multiple Times By Men On Bike In Delhi

A 45-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by unidentified men on a bike in outer Delhi's Bawana area, the police said Saturday.

The police said the man was previously wanted in two cases of robbery and was in jail for some time.

The incident took place late Friday night when unidentified bike-borne called the man  on the pretext of asking directions and then gave him a mobile phone to talk to someone, the police said. As soon he disconnected the phone, they shot him five times before fleeing.
