1. Feuding Brothers Killed in Fight Over Parking Spot
A bitter dispute between brothers over parking their cars outside their Model Town house ended in a knifing and shooting that left the two brothers and one of their wives dead outside the house on Thursday night.
Siblings Gurjeet and Jaspal had been fighting over ancestral property, worth more than Rs 100 crore, and the parking space outside it for the past five years. The deceased woman, Prabhjot Kaur, was Jaspal’s wife who had tried to shield him from a hail of bullets fired by Gurjeet’s PSOs.
After Jaspal stabbed Gurjeet, his PSOs shot him and his wife.
“Both of them had multiple cars but not enough space to park them,” said their elder brother Satnam Singh.

2. Woman’s Body Found in Bathtub of Gurgaon Hotel
The body of a 42-year-old woman who was married to a US-based businessman was found in the bathtub of a room at a popular upmarket hotel in Faridabad late Thursday evening.
Police said an investigation is on to ascertain if there was any foul play. Police said the woman, Ritu, had married Arun Kumar, a businessman who lives in New Jersey, on 3 March last year. This was her second marriage, and his third, her relatives told police.
“She had three sisters and a brother who live in south Delhi. She had been living in the country since August 2017, sometimes residing with relatives, and sometimes at hotels,” said Sube Singh, PRO, Faridabad Police.

3. Woman Alleges Rape by Cab Driver’s Friend
A 26-year-old employee of a private firm who hired a cab alleged that she was raped by the driver’s friend in Greater Noida’s Dankaur on Thursday evening. Police said the driver, who works for Ola, and his friend were arrested on Friday. However, both police and Ola said that the taxi — a White WagonR — had not been booked via the app.
Shailendra Pratap Singh, SHO of Jharcha police station, said, “The complainant told us that around 4 pm on Thursday, she had booked an Ola cab from Noida Sector 126 to Surajpur in Greater Noida. She said the taxi was being driven by Ashok Lohiya. His friend, Praveen Singh, was sitting in front. She said that she was given an aerated drink, which was laced with sedatives. As per the complaint, she was taken to a deserted area near Dayanagar village where Ashok got out of the car. She was then raped by Praveen.”

4. Thane Police Arrest Dawood Ibrahim Aide Tariq Parveen from Mumbai
Thane police on Friday arrested fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s alleged aide, Tariq Parveen, in a 1998 murder case. Parveen, wanted for murdering a businessman in Mumbra, was deported from Dubai to India in 2004, Mumbai police said.
“Mohammad Ibrahim, 38, was murdered in 1998. Ibrahim and his brother were running the local cable business. He was murdered by as many as six people, including Parveen, and were named as accused. We had been looking for Parveen for some time now,” said a senior officer.
5. Three Main Accused Sentenced to Life in Apna Ghar Sexual Abuse Case
A special CBI court in Panchkula sentenced three people to life imprisonment on Friday for sexually exploiting minors at Apna Ghar, a children’s shelter in Rohtak.
Special CBI judge Jagdeep Singh awarded the life term to main accused Jaswanti Devi, son-in-law Jai Bhagwan and driver Satish. Jaswanti’s brother, Jaswant, was awarded seven years’ imprisonment.
Three other accused – Jaswanti’s daughter Sushma as well as employees Sheela and Veena – were let off with time served. Two more employees, Roshini and R Parkash Saini, were released on probation. The Apna Ghar case pertained to the sexual and physical abuse of inmates at the shelter, which included minors, adults and differently abled girls.

6. Maulvi Held, His Home Vandalised by Mob
The maulvi of the madrasa where a 10-year-old was allegedly raped was arrested by Delhi Police on Friday. A 17-year-old was earlier apprehended for the alleged rape. Police said they are questioning the cleric to ascertain if he was aware that the girl had been brought to the madrasa by the juvenile, police said.
The cleric was arrested by the STF team of the Crime Branch under Section 21(2) of the POCSO Act. “Section 21(2) is a penal provision and any person being in charge of any institution is liable to be prosecuted criminally for failure to report the commission of offence under sections 19(1) and 20 of the Act,” said a police officer.
Meanwhile, on Friday morning, a group assembled outside the maulvi’s locked house in Ghaziabad, broke the main gate and vandalised the place while shouting communal slogans.

7. Cellphone of Hawala King Linked to Corporate Officials' Accounts
Suspected hawala operator Mohammad Farooq alias Farooq Shaikh, arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a Rs 2,254-crore money laundering case, supplied his three mobile numbers for the SMS alerts for the 169 bank accounts he opened in the names of dummy directors like autorickshaw drivers, said officials.
He suspected that the directors might cheat him and wanted to receive alerts if any transaction was carried out through these accounts. The ED also found a diary containing the names of various corporate houses showing that Shaikh received cheque payments from them and returned the money in cash after deducting his commission.

8. A Million Followers and Picture-Perfect Scam
Since 2016, he had been posing as a woman and creating social media accounts by stealing pictures from the profiles of “attractive” women to get followers. He would take money from men on the pretext of promoting them and their brands. One such Instagram account of this 33-year-old graduate had even crossed a million followers.
The accused, Akash Choudhary, targeted at least three men every week and made them pay through online wallets to make it difficult for police to zero in on him. He has cheated people of several lakhs and more than 15 cases have been worked out with his arrest.
The fraud came to light when the woman, whose pictures were being used by Choudhary in his main account, came to know about it. One of her friends alerted her when a product’s promotion popped up on her feed.

9. Knife-Wielding Men Kidnap 4-Year-Old From Home
Three men terrorised a family with knives and kidnapped a four-year-old girl from her residence in Pattareddy Palya near Uttarahalli, but the terrifying incident had a rare happy ending as the girl was safely restored to her family.
The kidnappers developed cold feet after learning cops were on their trail and abandoned the captive in a Jayanagar park from where she was rescued. They are still at large, but police are confident of nabbing them.
