1. Gujarat: Dalit Dy Sarpanch Waited for Security, Killed by Suspected Upper Caste Men
Manji Solanki, a Dalit deputy sarpanch of a village in Gujarat, whose application for police security was pending for almost two weeks, was murdered, allegedly by a group of men from upper-caste Kshatriya community on Wednesday.
From Jalila village in Ranpur taluka of Botad district, Manji was riding his motorcycle when it was knocked down by a car whose occupants then beat him up with clubs and iron pipes, said Manji’s son Tushar Solanki. He died en route to a hospital in Ahmedabad.

2. 3 Sex Workers From Delhi Gangraped at Noida Farmhouse, 7 Held: Police
Three sex workers were allegedly raped by nine men at a farm house in Noida after they were picked up from Delhi, police said.
Most of the accused are private security guards, while one is a cab driver, they said, adding that seven of the accused have been arrested after the matter was reported to police around 5 am.

3. Guwahati: Headless Body of Woman Found Near Kamakhya Temple, Human Sacrifice Suspected
Headless body of a woman was found on Wednesday evening around a kilometre away from the Kamakhya temple in Guwahati. Police suspect it could be a case of human sacrifice.
“The presence of an earthen lamp and a pot near the body suggests that a religious ritual might have taken place. Prima facie it appears that it could be a case of human sacrifice and we are investigating that angle. We have sent police teams to all prominent cremation grounds in Guwahati to check if someone carrying a head has been seen. The hunt for the killer is on,” DCP, Guwahati West, K K Chowdhury, told The Indian Express.

4. Woman Stabbed for Objecting to ‘Indecent Remarks’
A 30-year-old woman was stabbed and injured with a pair of scissors, allegedly by a tailor and his two brothers after she objected to “objectionable remarks and gestures” that he often directed at her sister in outer Delhi’s Nangloi on Monday evening, the police said. The incident took place at the tailor’s shop in the building where the injured woman’s sister lives with her husband and children, the police said.
Deputy commissioner of police (outer) Seju P Kuruvilla said that a case was registered and the three men were arrested.

5. Man Arrested for Supplying Illegal Arms to Criminals in Delhi
A 42-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly supplying illegal arms to criminals in Delhi, police said.
Mohammad Parvez, a resident of Jasola village, was arrested from South Delhi. Two country-made pistols and 10 live cartridges were seized from him, they said.

8. Man Chased, Shot at in Bawana
A 45-year-old man who works as a driver was chased and shot on a road in outer north Delhi’s Bawana by four masked men Wednesday evening.
The injured man, Kuldeep, tried to save himself by running into a mobile phone shop, but still sustained two gunshot wounds to the abdomen. Kuldeep is expected to survive, a statement released by the police said.

9. MPSC Exams: Two Held for Running Dummy Candidate Racket
Matunga police has arrested two persons in connection with a dummy candidate racket in the Maharashtra Public Service Commission examination. Police said that the two men would appear on behalf of candidates in return for money and helped them clear the written examination.
The scam was exposed in April this year, when police arrested Manoj Thovade, a clerk posted in Aurangabad, after his senior raised concerns over his qualification. “His seniors had found him slow in clerical work and suspected to how he had cleared the MPSC exams,” a police official said.
