1. Man Stabs Girlfriend, Self in Chennai
A 23-year-old man stabbed his 22-year-old girlfriend with a knife at the Anna Nagar Tower Park in Chennai on Tuesday afternoon. Later, he stabbed himself with the same weapon. The two are undergoing treatment for multiple injuries at different hospitals in Anna Nagar.
According to the police, Latha (name changed on request), is a resident of Cholavaram. Her father Subramani is an electrician and a daily-wage earner. She is pursuing a degree course in mathematics at a private college in Anna Nagar.

2. Ludhiana Man Kills Daughter and Her Partner in Suspected Case of Honour Killing
In a suspected case of honour killing, a father killed his 35-year-old daughter and her partner with an an axe on Monday in Doaba Bhaini village of the Koomkalan area in Ludhiana district.
The accused has been identified as Gurmail Singh, 55, who killed his daughter Balwinder Kaur, 35, and her partner Kuldeep Kumar Chabbra, 40.
The accused later dumped the bodies in a cart and parked it at the centre of a chowk. He surrendered before the police and confessed the crime.

3. TN School Teacher Arrested For Propositioning Class VIII Girl
A 43-year-old teacher in a government-aided school at Chinna Salem in Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu has been arrested on charges of giving a Class VIII girl student a rose and expressing his love for her on Valentine’s Day.
District education officials said M Nirmal Premkumar presented a rose to the girl student in the classroom in front of other students to express his love for her. The girl refused to receive the rose and rejected his advances but Nirmal forced the flower into her hand.
Enraged, her parents and relatives staged a protest in front of the school demanding the immediate arrest of the teacher.

4. Intellectually Challenged Tribal Woman Gangraped in West Bengal, Two Arrested
A tribal woman, who is believed to be intellectually challenged, was gangraped in West Bengal's South Dinajpur district and tortured by her tormentors, who inserted an iron rod into her private parts before escaping, police said on Tuesday.
Two persons aged 50 years and 45 years have been arrested from Itahar in neighbouring North Dinajpur district in connection with the crime, police said.
She had gone to a fair at Patirajpur on the inter-district border on Saturday evening from where she was taken away by several persons and gangraped in an agricultural field under a bridge. She was tortured and an iron rod was inserted into her private parts and left there, the police said.
The 27-year-old has been operated upon and is in the critical care unit in Malda Medical College Hospital where doctors said she is responding to treatment.

5. Class VII Student From Gurugram Threatens to Rape Teacher, Daughter
A Class VII student of a well-known Gurugram school threatened to rape his teacher and her daughter in an online post. The daughter studies with him in the same class. In another incident, a Class VIII student of the same school sent a mail to a teacher, asking her out for a date and sex.
Both the incidents happened last week. The teacher, threatened with rape, has since returned to school but her daughter is still too traumatised to get back.
But child welfare committee chairperson Shakuntala Dhull said that she has taken suo motu cognisance of the incidents. “Counselling sessions will be taken of the school authorities, including the teachers and kids,” she said.

6. Prisoner Escapes After His Associates Threw Chili Powder at Delhi Police
A member of a dreaded crime syndicate escaped from police custody on Monday after his accomplices threw chilli powder on guards accompanying him to a hospital in Daryaganj.
Police said Sandeep alias Dhillu, who was in east Delhi’s Mandoli jail, escaped along with his four associates who also opened fire on police officers. Sandeep is suspected to be a member of the Neeraj Bawana gang and has been convicted in a murder, with 14 other cases pending against him.
A senior police officer said Sandeep’s associates were armed and had come on three motorcycles. As soon as the escape was reported, police declared an alert across the city and increased vigil at borders.
The three policemen who were escorting Sandeep have been suspended.

7. Alleged Gang Member Shot Dead in Greater Noida Encounter
An alleged member of Mukeem Kala gang was shot dead in an exchange of fire with police in Greater Noida late Monday night. The dead, Sanjay (25), carried a reward of Rs 25,000 and was allegedly involved in making extortion calls to a local BJP leader, police said.
“Constables Vinay Ujjwal and Sachin Giri were injured in the shootout. Sanjay, who hailed from Karnal in Haryana, sustained a bullet injury to his chest. He had at least 30 cases against him in UP, Uttarakhand and Haryana,” said Ajay Kumar Sharma, SHO, Bisrakh police station.
Police said that they received a tip-off that Sanjay, an alleged “sharpshooter” of Mukeem Kala gang, was in Greater Noida area with his associates.

8. Woman Lecturer Shot Dead in MP by ‘Masked Man’
A 30-year old woman lecturer was shot dead by a masked man from point blank range when she was on her way to a college in Chhanera town in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh, police said Tuesday.
“Kirti Mali was shot in head by a motorcycle-borne man when she was walking to the government polytechnic college,” police said.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s brother Rishiraj Mali alleged that Mali’s husband, an Army personnel currently posted in Punjab, was behind the killing. “My sister was separated from her husband over a dispute. He had threatened to kill my sister and other family members after she lodged a dowry case against him in May 2016,” Rishiraj claimed.

9. Three Cops Held For Extorting Money From Spa Owner in Hyderabad
Three police personnel and a cab-driver, who allegedly indulged in extortion of Rs 1.35 lakh from the owner of a massage/spa centre at Banjara Hills in Hyderabad were on Tuesday apprehended, police said.
The accused were identified as Kateeb Ahmad, (57), a head constable attached to Begumpet Police Station, B Venugopal (36), constable attached to Chatrinaka Police Station, P Vijay Babu (31) constable of Langerhouz Police Station and cab-driver B Shashi Kumar (25), Hyderabad Police said in a release.
The owner of the spa lodged a complaint with police stating that on 8 February, the accused barged into his spa saying that they are police personnel and detained four women and the manager in one room and called the owner of the spa and demanded money from him for not registering a case, police said.
