1. Rajkot: Four-Year-Old Daughter Raped, Alleges Woman
A four-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped in Kuranga village near Dwarka town in Devbhoomi Dwarka district on Monday. Police booked an unidentified person on Tuesday after a woman filed a complaint, claiming that the accused kidnapped and sexually assaulted her daughter near the labour colony of a private company at Kuranga.
In her complaint, the woman stated that an unidentified man kidnapped her daughter while she was playing outside their quarter in the labour colony of the private company in Kuranga village on Monday morning. Eventually, the mother managed to find her child near their quarter around 10:30 am. Suspecting that her daughter had been sexually assaulted, the woman filed a complaint with Dwarka police station. Based on the complaint, the Dwarka police booked an unidentified man for kidnapping the minor girl and raping her. He has also been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

2. Woman Forgets to Switch off Lights, Husband ‘Kills’ Her
A 26-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly strangulating his wife to death in front of their two children, aged four and two, at their Sewri residence. The accused has been identified as Bilal Shaikh. Police said the incident took place at around 1 am on Saturday, when deceased Lippi Shaikh forgot to switch off the lights before going to sleep. An angry Bilal allegedly assaulted her, eventually choking her to death. “The duo started fighting over the light… following which the accused started abusing her. Later, as she too abused him, he started assaulting her. He then banged her head on the floor and choked her to death,” Sewri police Inspector Sudhir Nagwe said.
The accused, with the help of local residents, rushed Lippi to JJ Hospital, where she was declared brought dead on arrival.

3. Kolkata: Police Bust Kidney Racket, Arrest Nine; Mastermind on Run
The Naihati police busted an “interstate kidney racket” and arrested nine people in North 24 Parganas district on Tuesday. Police sources said the accused used to sell kidneys in exchange for hefty amounts ranging from Rs 20,000 to several lakhs. The racketeers used to contact people using fake profiles on social networking sites and chat forums. Of the nine accused, two had sold a kidney of their own. The accused operated from a rented house in Mitrapara. The owner of the house, Biswajit Pal, and a staff member of the water supply department of the Naihati Municipality, Sarfaraz Ahmad, were also involved.
Sources said Ahmad introduced the other accused to Pal. Their network was spread across Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam and Uttarakhand.

4. Delhi: Denied Money for Drugs, Man Kills Sister, Held
A 33-year-old man stabbed his sister to death at their Vikaspuri home after she refused to give him money to buy drugs. Police said the woman, Ashwini (59), was attacked in front of their 84-year-old mother, who was also injured in the incident.
Hearing his mother’s cries for help, the woman’s younger son, Dileep, came to their rescue but was also stabbed by the accused in the chest. DCP (West) Vijay Singh said a case has been registered against the accused, identified as Latinder, under Sections 302 and 324 of the IPC.

5. Uttar Pradesh: German National Escapes from Police Custody, Four Cops Suspended
A 45-year-old German national who was arrested on charges of cheating and fraud in November last year escaped from police custody after jumping from a train in Allahabad on Monday.
Holger Erik Misch fled when he was being taken to Himachal Pradesh for his appearance in a court in another case. He was lodged at Sonbhadra district jail.
Sonbhadra’s Superintendent of Police (SP) RP Singh said four policemen — a sub-inspector and three constables — who were escorting Holger to Himachal Pradesh, have been suspended on charges of negligence.
The SP said that a report on Holger’s escape has been sent to the Union Home Ministry, External Affairs Ministry and also German Embassy in New Delhi.

6. Youth Beaten up by Girl’s Brother Over Affair Dies
A 22-year-old Trombay resident and his two friends who were arrested for allegedly thrashing a youth with wooden sticks 13 days ago, were booked for murder after the victim died in hospital. The deceased, Bindu Prajapati (22), had an affair with the main accused Ramchandra Prajapati’s sister, said the police.
“On 11 April, Ramchandra called Bindu home claiming he wanted to talk to him,” said senior inspector Sunil Gaonkar of Trombay police station. “When Bindu entered the house, Ramchandra and his friends Hemant Gouad (20) and Ashish Yadav (22) bolted the door and beat him mercilessly with sticks. Neighbours heard Bindu’s screams for help and broke open the door. They rushed him to Shatabdi Hospital. But as he had suffered severe head injuries, doctors advised to shift him to Sion hospital.”

7. Mowed Down by Train: 38-Year-Old Arrested for ‘Pushing Man ’off Platform
A 38-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday by the Kurla railway police for allegedly pushing a man off the Mulund railway platform on Saturday. A train had run over the man. The woman, a resident of Chembur, was arrested from her house, police said.
Kurla GRP inspector Sanjay Ambare said the accused was identified as Manisha Khakadiya. “She was coming down the stairs from the foot overbridge when the victim, Dipak Patwa, brushed against her. Believing that he did it knowingly, she started arguing with him and eventually hitting him,” he said.

8. UK Trader Held with Heroin Worth Rs 4 Crore
An UK-based trader was caught peddling heroin. The accused, Gurveer Singh, was a key member of the cartel and was nabbed near Mukarba Chowk with 1kg contraband worth Rs 4 crore. It was found that Singh had been sourcing the drugs directly from Afghanistan through Pakistan, using contacts he had developed while staying in London.
DCP (special cell) Pramod Kushwah said Singh was inducted into the trade by a notorious drug supplier named Yaduvinder Singh from Ropar in Punjab. “A team had been tracking him for the past few years. He used to come to Delhi to receive the supply of drugs from a group of foreign nationals staying in Uttam Nagar,” said Kushwah.
