A photowalk through Kosapet right before the festival season was more than just another photography exercise. It was a sneak peek into the lives of people who work for and are the actual reason for bringing life to the festival season. Arriving in the early hours to witness the coordinated efforts of the experienced locals who, through the years, have been working hard to keep up with the demands of the festival season, was quite a spectacle. It was like a big fat family bringing the festival to life!
All through the day, one can see the transformation of huge chunks of clay into beautiful Lord Ganesha statues of all sizes. It is beautiful to watch sculptors chisel perfection out of a piece of clay. And, as one goes one clay mould at a time, it is sweet to see that nobody seems to be bogged down by the effort they’re putting in. Probably because they already know all of it is going to end up bringing joy, happiness and good luck to the millions celebrating Ganesha.
