An FIR has been lodged by the Bengaluru police against Latha Rajinikanth, wife of Tamil superstar Rajinikanth in a case of forgery, declaration of false statements, using false evidence, and cheating.
The Bengaluru High Court has ordered a case to be filed on the basis of a private complaint registered against Latha and 3 others in relation to the post production work of Kochadaiyaan, a film directed by Rajinikanth’s younger daughter Soundarya R. Ashwin, featuring the Tamil film industry icon and Deepika Padukone, reported IBN Live.
Has the urge to gag media proved costly for Latha Rajinikanth?
Rajinikanth’s family is overly sensitive to criticism it seems. There have been two attempts in the recent past to gag the media from reporting adverse news about the family.
It all began in December 2014, when Latha Rajinikanth, obtained a gag order against 95 media publications in India. The move came after she approached the court for a temporary injunction against any reports related to herself or her family on allegations made by Ad Bureau Advertising Pvt Ltd that she had cheated them by double selling the rights of the film Kochadaiiyaan in Tamil Nadu. The company alleged that it had given Rs 10 crore to the movie’s makers.
Not the First Time
This is not the first time a temporary injunction has been filed relating to the Rajinikanth family. In February, a Bengaluru court gave orders preventing major news groups from publishing any negative news against Rajinikanth or his movie, Lingaa. Producer of Lingaa, ‘Rockline’ Venkatesh earlier sought a permanent injunction over the bad publicity by some distributors. Following this around 80 publications as listed in the petition were restrained from publishing any negative news on Lingaa and Rajinikanth.
