After Raids, I-T Dept Issues Summons to Congress’ DK Shivakumar 

The Karnataka minister has reportedly asked for two days.

The Income Tax department has issued summons to Karnataka energy minister DK Shivakumar following the three-day long raids at the properties attached to him. The I-T department has asked him to appear for questioning on 7 August. However, sources said that minister has asked for two days’ time.

Apart from Shivakumar, summons have been issued to his family members and close associates, who were raided by the I-T department.

I-T department officials said the summons were part of the procedures, where notices will have to be issued to those who have been raided.

Affidavits filed by DK Shivakumar declaring his assets, have been collected by IT department, which will be collaborated with the money and documents seized during the raids, to find evidence of any disproportionate assets held by DKS, sources said.

Since the raid, there have been reports of cash and property documents, worth more than Rs 100 crores being seized from residences of DK Shivakumar. However, I-T department is yet to give an official statement.

According reports, once the investigation is over, a report will be sent to director general, income tax department in New Delhi, who will take the decision on what details to be made public.

Even DK Shivakumar refused to speak on the matter and said until he receives all the documents pertaining to the raid from the I-T department, he will not issue any statements.

As the I-T investigation continues, DK Shivakumar has been holding meetings with the senior leaders of the congress party to figure out their contingency plans. Reports said a 3-hour long meeting was held with KPCC president G Parameshwara, on 6 August.
