Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has said he will release evidence that will back the government’s stand that the Pakistani terror boat blew itself up. “I will release evidence and we stand by our original statement,” he said today at the Aero India show in Bengaluru.
India’s stand is that the occupants blew up the boat after they were intercepted by the Indian Coast Guard, which has intelligence about the boat’s terror links.
Parrikar was responding to a video released by The Indian Express today. In it, Coast Guard DIG BK Loshali claims that he gave the order for the boat to be blown up.
“Blow the boat off…we don’t want to serve them biryani.” he is clearly heard saying in the video that has since gone viral.
Implying that this could be a case of the officer making a wrong statement, the Defence Minister promised to initiate an inquiry to look into the matter. DIG Loshali faces possible disciplinary action.
