Yuki sits under the table while Sara sneakily passes bits of biscuits to her. After a heavy meal, Yuki lays down listening to her mother hum and Sara rests her head on her fluffy stomach. As the clock strikes 4 pm, the two bolt to play a game of chase. Life is beautiful for Yuki today, but a few months ago, she was on the streets scrounging for leftovers and searching for shelter. She was abandoned by her owners, but thanks to RESQ, an animal welfare organisation, today she lives in a happy home.

‘Tis is the time of giving and RESQ, an animal welfare organisation, has released a music video outlining the story of Yuki the dog. The #IBelong movement aims to bring about a global movement that emphasises compassion, kindness, and love for animals.

What makes the video powerful is that it is based on a true story. Yuki was found lying helpless on the street with an inflamed wound (vaginal prolapse) that was completely infested by maggots. Apart from the physical injury, Yuki was also visibly confused, no doubt searching for her family.

“Despite the obvious pain she was in, she was extremely trusting, and the second we put her in the RESQ ambulance, her demeanor changed completely. She began to wag her little tail, shower us with kisses, and she refused to sit by herself (a human had to constantly be sitting by her side and cuddling her!),’ said Neha Panchamiya, Founder and President, RESQ.

“Her spirit and fortitude is just one example of the hundreds of abandoned pets we rescue every year.”
Neha Panchamiya, Founder and President, RESQ

Through this video, RESQ wants to start the conversation not just about adoption, but also about helping an animal which has gone through so much trauma.

“Not only does it highlight the sheer terror and cruelty that results from one's decision to abandon a pet, but it also shows people that rescued animals are just as (if not more) affectionate, friendly, and deserving of love than any other animal. Above all, it is a rescued animal's tenacity and ability to trust and forgive that makes them so endearing, and we hope that this will resonate with viewers and erase the stigma that is often attached to a 'rescued' animal or adopting 'adult dog’,” said Neha Panchamiya, Founder and President, RESQ.

Sara’s mother Tanya believes that it is extremely important that humans realise adoption is not a favour to the puppy and that it is a commitment for both the human and animal.

“It's equally important for the child to familiarise herself with the dog's likes and dislikes, comfort and discomfort zones, and understanding the responsibility of caring for an animal – there needs to be a balance as it’s a new experience for both child and dog,” said Tanya Kane, adoptive parent.

“Today, Sara not only calls Yuki her best friend, but her sister. The two are now inseparable, and Yuki knows she’s here to stay!”

Like Yuki, RESQ provides shelter to over 13,000 injured, sick or abandoned animals every year. Out of these, at least 400 are abandoned pet dogs that have absolutely no chance of survival on the streets.

And for all those who prefer shopping to adopting, you have to check out RESQ’s Instagram page and it will give you all the warm and fuzzy feels you need.

Bambi came to us in January this year, a lost & confused baby goat who was left behind because she was born malformed. Bambi suffered from the goat equivalent of rickets, which meant that her legs would not straighten, & her hooves were badly overgrown. Although she had a very unlikely chance of survival, we refused to give up on her. It soon became clear that Bambi was a special girl, & although she was so very small at the time, her larger-than-life personality more than made up for it! With careful physiotherapy and rehabilitation, she soon began to blossom both physically & emotionally, and carved a special place in our hearts with her adorable antics 😊 With the love, faith & undying dedication of the RESQ team, Bambi began to show great progress, & was soon able to stand on her hind limbs! We would apply a splint for one to two hours a day in an effort to slowly strengthen & straighten her legs, & trim her hooves routinely. We knew it would be a very long & tedious process to bring Bambi to full health, but it only took one glance at this sweet girl to sense the hope & determination within her. Bambi WANTED to walk... and, barely 3 months after she came to us, that's EXACTLY what she did! Today, Bambi can not only be seen walking, but RUNNING about the RESQ Centre, greeting every visitor near the Large Animal Sanctuary, pretending we don't feed her & tricking unsuspecting visitors into giving her treats (she's a little #gangsta if there ever was one), lording it over the pigs, wondering whether she's a pig or a dog (but never a goat 😂), and above all -- filling us with hope, motivation, and the knowledge that miracles such as Bambi ARE indeed possible, if only a little love and patience are thrown into the mix! Sara the piglet… the pink nose that is currently stealing our hearts at RESQ! 🐽 Sara the piglet was found in Kothrud yesterday, lying flat on the side of the road. When we received the report on our webline, we drove to the location and found a tiny, frail piglet covered in dirt, unable to move, and in immense pain. It was evident that she had just survived a hit-and-run, and it was unlikely she would even survive the night. We rushed her to the RESQ Centre, where tests revealed that Sara has fractured her femur in such a complex position that we cannot put a cast. Despite her suffering, however, Sara is the sweetest little girl who yearns for human love and warmth. This adorable pink-nosed piglet is less than a month old, and has already endured immeasurable pain. We are waiting for her condition to stabilise, and will do everything we possibly can to relieve Sara of her pain and give her a chance at the life she deserves. Today, on #WorldGratitudeDay, we are so grateful to be in a position to help animals like Sara, and to have your kind support every step of the way! To help Sara on her journey to recovery, please click the link in our bio 🐷 To donate via #PayPal, please DM us for the link! My name is T'Challa, and I'm a #freagle 🐾 One month ago, I was rescued from a life of animal testing in Pune, India. Now, after 8 long years of being seen as an experiment, I finally know exactly who I am: a name, and not a number. I enjoy long naps, claiming polite first dibs on food, and am a protector of my fellow freagles (free beagles). In fact, whenever a new hooman walks into the Beagle Base, I'm the first one to rush towards the intruder, booping my head into the giant's knees until they finally bow down and greet me with chin rubs. Although our pasts were riddled with horror, I make it my mission to ensure all my fellow #SuperBeagles are happy and safe. It is a mantle passed from doggo to doggo, and while it isn't always easy being the protector, I take my roles as Chief Sniffer and First Cuddle Responder very seriously. Under my watchful eye, Diana Prince, Barry Allen, and Tony Stark have been adopted into loving homes... but there are 7 of us that still need kind hoomans to open their hearts and homes to us. Won't you help us live a life of freedom, sunshine and love? #Share this post to help spread the word! All we want is to be loved. @chadwickboseman your support would mean the world to us 💛 . . . . . . #RESQsuperbeagles #freagles #Resq #resqct #freaglesofindia #AnimalWelfare #helpanimals #namesnotnumbers #beaglesofinstagram #animaltesting #freethebeagle #bringhomethebeagle #blackpanther #tchalla #rescuebeagle #animalcruelty #india #rescuedogs #superhero #marvel #comics #pune #wakanda #doggo #rescuedogsofinstagram
