A 22-year-old man from Hyderabad who could not pursue education after Class 10, has invented a new smart system for vehicles to avoid road accidents with the help of alcohol detectors.

Sai Teja invented a detector that can sense whether the driver has consumed alcohol or not, according to ANI. The detector can also send an SMS alert to the configured mobile numbers.

Teja told ANI, "I stopped studying after 10th standard due to some reasons, but was interested in electrons and use to gain knowledge from the internet. I learnt to code from internet and invented a new alcohol detector which restricts the vehicle engine to start if the driver has consumed more than 30 percent of alcohol."

He also said, "A text SMS is sent to the numbers saved by the micro-controller in the device. It took me 15 days to invent this device. It has been priced Rs 2,500."

Teja also caught the attention of Telangana Rashtra Saithi Working President KT Rama Rao, who tweeted on Tuesday, 5 February, "More than happy to support the young lad through Telangana state innovation cell @teamTSIC if anyone can get me his contact details."
