Soon, people from the National Capital Region (NCR) may be able to catch flights from Ghaziabad. The Hindon airbase is set to be operational for regional flights by the first week of March, news agency ANI reported on Wednesday, 30 January.

An 80-seater aircraft will be allowed to operate from the airbase, which is being developed under the Centre's Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS).

The initial target for the completion of civil terminal facilities at the airbase was mid-February, according to a report by the Hindustan Times.

"We are working round-the-clock for the development of the terminal facilities and hope to complete the facilities by mid-February," an official from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) told HT on the condition of anonymity.

The official said that additional services such as parking will take longer to complete. "We are now working on the construction of the road to the airbase, power house of 11KV capacity and also parking area that can accommodate 110 cars. The terminal facility will be able to accommodate 300 inbound and outbound passengers per day.”
