Gowda, Tomar Get Additional Charges After Ananth Kumar’s Death

The development came following the death of Ananth Kumar on 12 November, due to multiple organ failure.

Union Ministers DV Sadananda Gowda and Narendra Singh Tomar on Tuesday 13 November, were assigned the additional charge of the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers and Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs respectively, replacing their predecessor Ananth Kumar.

Currently, DV Sadananda Gowda holds the portfolio of Statistics and Programme Implementation, while Narendra Singh is Minister of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Mines.

The development came following the death of Ananth Kumar on 12 November, due to multiple organ failure.

"Kumar passed away around 3 am at Shankara Cancer Hospital due to multi-organ failure three weeks after he was admitted on return from the US on October 21," party's state unit spokesperson S. Shantaram told IANS.

The Karnataka government on 11 November also declared a three-day mourning across the state and one-day public holiday as a mark of respect.

The departed leader was in the NDA-led government since May 2014.
