In what is likely to be the first arrest on board the Hyderabad Metro Rail, a 65-year-old man was held on Thursday for allegedly clicking photographs of women without their knowledge.
Personnel from the SHE Team nabbed the accused, identified as N Narasimha, a retired employee of the education department.
He was found “capturing” photographs of women and girls seated in front of him in the metro train without the knowledge or permission of the latter. He was booked under IPC section 354-C (voyeurism) and was placed under arrest.Mahesh M Bhagwat, Police Commissioner, Rachakonda
The police said that Narasimha was travelling between the metro stations of Uppal and Nagole, and used his mobile phone to click pictures.
“During a decoy operation done at Uppal metro station, N Narasimha, a resident of Pedda Amberpet, who was capturing photos of girls sitting in front of him – without their knowledge and permission – was nabbed. In his cell phone, we could find the captured photos of the victims," a press release stated.
He was handed over to the Uppal police for further investigation.
This incident came to light just two days after it was reported that six SHE Teams comprising of three members each, were doing the rounds on metro, in civilian clothes.
These police officers are equipped with cameras to record incidents of any crime, which they later use as proof, while arresting those who are found harassing women.
The teams work in shifts in order to be on constant vigil. Women who face any untoward situation can get in touch with us over social media.
