Mumbai Sessions Court Fire: Situation Handled, No Casualties

This is the fifth major instance of fire in Mumbai in the last 20 days.

A fire broke out on the third floor of the sessions court building in Mumbai early on 8 January, an official told PTI. No casualty or injury has been reported so far.

The fire brigade got a call at 7:14 am about the blaze in the court building, located near the campus of the Mumbai University in South Mumbai, the official of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's disaster management unit told PTI.

According to IANS, eight tenders of the fire brigade were rushed to the spot and the fire was successfully brought under control by 8:30 am, with no casualties being reported.

Fifth Blaze in Mumbai in 20 Days

This is the fifth major instance of fire in the city in the last 20 days.

Twelve people were killed when a massive fire broke out at a snack shop in the city’s Saki Naka-Kurla area on 18 December. Fourteen people were killed in a fire at an upscale pub in the Kamala Mills compound on 29 December.

In another incident, four persons, including two children, were killed and five others seriously injured after an upper floor of a residential building in suburban Marol caught fire on 4 January.

On 6 January, a 20-year-old man who worked for a television serial production unit, was killed in a fire at the Cinevista film studio in suburban Kanjurmarg.
