Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah had to step down from his position of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) chief.

According to a Zee News report, the veteran National Conference leader is expected to be replaced by Imran Ansari, who was, incidentally, elected unopposed. Ansari also happens to be the former sports minister of Jammu and Kashmir.

Abdullah, who has been the President of JKCA since 1980, had decided not to contest. However, according to the Zee News report, Abdullah has claimed that his removal was illegal as he still had a three-year term to serve as the board’s president.

He may approach courts against removal.
