A day after Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Ashwini Kumar Choubey said that the AYUSH Ministry is working on using cow urine for preparation of medicines and to cure cancer, Choubey on Sunday, 8 September, said that former Prime Minister Morarji Desai used to consume cow urine for medicinal benefits, ANI reported.
Stressing on the significance of cow urine and its quality to treat various health issues, Choubey said there is a need to research more on cow urine.
Earlier, Choubey had said that the Health Ministry was studying a proposal to include cancer treatment under the Ayushman Bharat Prime Minister Jana Arogya Yojana (JAY), ANI reported.
The Minister of State for Health and Family also said that every effort was being made to protect cattle through proper implementation of government schemes
Several BJP leaders in the past have advocated the use of cow urine and related products in curing various ailments.
Bharatiya Janta Party’s candidate from Bhopal and Malegaon blast accused, Pragya Thakur had claimed that a mixture of cow products helped her cure her breast cancer.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat had kicked up a row by claiming that cow is the only animal which inhales and exhales oxygen, and had asserted breathing problems can be cured by massaging it.
