Two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Kulgam district of south Kashmir on Sunday, 24 June, reported PTI.
The encounter began Sunday afternoon at a village in Kulgam as Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with the CRPF and the Army, were carrying out operations to clear a national highway ahead of the Amarnath Yatra, beginning 28 June, a senior police official told PTI.
Lashkar-e-Taiba divisional commander Shakoor Dar is reportedly among the two militants killed.
A third militant, who was reportedly trapped in a house, has surrendered to the forces, reported ANI.
According to ANI, internet services have temporarily been suspended in Kulgam.
