The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday, 7 May, gave yet another clean chit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a poll code violation case, this time over his remarks slamming former PM Rajiv Gandhi.
This follows suit in what is emerging as a pattern this election season, of the EC failing to clamp down on cases of – what appear to be – flagrant violations of the Model Code of Conduct by politicians cutting across party lines.
