Yet another video of Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb making a controversial statement has gone viral on social media. In the video, which surfaced on Monday, 30 April, he can be heard saying: “...No interference in my government. If someone pokes, or interferes his nail should be chopped off. No one can touch my government”.

This video comes soon after Deb became the laughing stock of social media, following his statement on how people should stop chasing government jobs and milk cows instead.

As seen in the video, the CM tries to drive his point home by drawing an analogy.

Around 8 am, a vegetable vendor brings bottle gourd to the market. However, it gets rotten by 9 am due to repeated digging of nails by customers. This should not happen with my government. No interference in my government. If someone pokes, or interferes his nail should be chopped off. No one can touch my government.

Lately, Deb has been in the news for making bizarre statements. Recently, he claimed that the Internet existed in the times of the Mahabharata. According to a report by News18, some Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have requested Prime Minister Modi to intervene and have a word Deb him on the subject.

The report adds that taking their cue, Modi has summoned Deb to meet with him on 2 May.

“Senior party leaders are miffed over the controversies triggered by Deb’s statements. Deb is just saying anything and everything. Modi will talk to him,” a senior party leader told News18.
