  • Bangladesh police raided a militant hideout in Dhaka’s Rupnagar area on Saturday and killed a top Islamic extremist who helped plan the attack on the upscale Holey Artisan Bakery and O’ Kitchen restaurant in Dhaka.

  • The police identified him as the deputy of the attack ‘mastermind’ Tamim Ahmed Chowdhury. They said he was referred to as ‘Murad’ or ‘Major Murad’ by the members of his outfit.

  • Three policemen, including the officer-in-charge of the nearby police station, were also wounded in the gunfight with the terrorist. Last week, security forces also killed four other militants related to the attack, including the mastermind.
