Due to unprecedented rainfall, the Gurgaon administration had on Friday imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CRPC near Hero Honda Chowk.

The orders, which ban large gatherings, was on Friday evening lifted after the situation on the roads normalised.

Thursday and most of Friday witnessed outrage over the traffic situation, on social media, and otherwise. A blame game between parties also ensued, with the Delhi government pinning blame on BJP’s Manohar Lal Khattar government in Haryana.

Commuters were stuck for ages, for anything between 4-10 hours, on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway.

There was a massive traffic jam as all kinds of vehicles – from cars, to two-wheelers to buses and other modes of public transport – were stuck for over four hours, especially on the Delhi-Jaipur stretch.

Delhi Deputy Chief Manish Sisodia took a dig at the Haryana government saying that progress can’t be achieved by changing the name of the place.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal too blamed the “BJP governance” for the mess.

The District Magistrate directed all schools in Gurgaon to remain closed on 29 and 30 July, in view of the unprecedented rainfall.
