Modi Unveils Schemes for Housing Loans, Farmers & Pregnant Women

Modi Addressed the Nation on 31 December
Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his address to the nation on 31 December, a day after the 50-day period to deposit demonetised notes expired.
Lauding the country for the manner in which it embraced demonetisation, Prime Minister Modi said:
Kuch baat hai ki hasti mitti nahi hamari, iss baat ko deshwaasiyo ne jeekar dikhaaya hai. (You cannot erase our existence – the country proved this true with its actions).
While calling India’s response to demonetisation unparalleled, Modi spoke about the existence of black money in the nation.

He also added that only 24 lakh people in the country admit that their annual income is above Rs 10 lakh.
“Can you believe this?” PM Modi said.
The law will be brutal in performing its duty. But the government is also working on helping the honest, providing protection to them, making life simpler for them, and ensuring that honesty becomes respectable. The government is a friend to the honest, and is in favour of creating an environment to turn the dishonest, honest.
He also spoke of how black money funds terrorist activities:
Everyone knows that black money funds Naxalism, terrorism and counterfeit note rackets.
Additionally, the addressed primarily focused on introducing new features pertaining to housing schemes, farmers, pregnant women, MSME and senior citizens.
New Housing Schemes Announced
PM Modi announced new housing schemes for the poor and the middle class, along with a decreased rate of interest on housing loans for them.
The government has taken some decisions to enable the poor and the middle class to purchase houses.
He also unveiled new provisions of the PM Awas Yojana.
