Delhi Police arrested a senior editor of Times Now TV news channel on charges of outraging women’s modesty.

Two women who were travelling with their family complained that Vivek Narayan, Executive Editor with the Times Now, had clicked photos of them against their will, the police said.

The incident took place on an Indigo flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Delhi.

After the flight landed in Delhi, the issue was raised with the security. He was handed over to IGI police.

The Delhi Police has confirmed that an FIR has been filed under Section 509 the IPC (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).

"We received a complaint from girls who are residents of Delhi that Vivek Narayan was trying to take photos of these girls without their permission. We have seized Vivek Narayan's phone in which we saw the photos of the girls,” a senior police officer said.

He has been released on bail.

Sources close to Vivek Narayan told The Quint that the issue had escalated when a family of seven began fighting over a seat he had already reserved. The source added that Narayan was not at fault. The Quint tried reaching out to Narayan multiple times but didn’t received any response.
