The over 20 km Majlis Park-Durgabhai Deshmukh South Campus section of Delhi Metro's Pink Line will open next week, Urban Affairs Secretary DS Mishra said at Metro Bhawan in Delhi on on 8 March, PTI reported.
The 59-km Majlis Park-Shiv Vihar corridor (Line 7) of the metro network, also known as the Pink Line, is part of the Phase-III project. The entire corridor will open by June 2018.
The Metro line, which is said to be the longest route, will connect all the six lines of the DMRC, including the north and northwest parts of the city, with the southern part of the capital, Hindustan Times reported.
The Majlis Park-Durgabhai Deshmukh South Campus section has 12 stations, including three interchange stations at Azadpur, Netaji Subhash Place and Rajouri Garden. The other stations are as follows:

- Shalimar Bagh
- Netaji Subhash Place
- Shakurpur
- Punjabi Bagh West
- ESI Hospital
- Rajouri Garden
- Maya Puri
- Naraina Vihar
- Delhi Cantt

How Will It Help Commuters?
Once the Pink Line is opened for the public, travel time is expected to be reduced significantly for residents of North Delhi areas – including Model Town, Gujranwala Town, GTB Nagar and Mukherjee Nagar – to Rohini, Dwarka and West Delhi. Commuters will be able to avoid the Kashmere Gate and Rajiv Chowk as interchange stations, as there will be four interchange stations.
The footover bridge (FOB) at the South Campus station, which will convert it into an interchange station, will be ready by June. Once fully operational, a total of 10 interchange stations will help decongest the other Metro lines, a DMRC official told Hindustan Times.
According to HT, the Azadpur station is set to be the first underground as well as interchange station of Line 7 (Pink Line) set to cut travel time by 30 minutes.
A DMRC official to HT : “It is a paid to paid connectivity, which means, travellers won’t have to exit the system to change another train”.
