Pakistani-American Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist, David Coleman Headley has written a memoir while serving a jail term for the Mumbai terror attacks. In a series of revelations, Headley extensively narrates his association with the terror group and goes on to describe how the 26/11 attacks were executed.

Headley on LeT

The draft memoir has been made available to American public affairs TV programme Frontline. Excerpts from the draft highlight Headley’s association and training with LeT and his groundings for the Denmark attack against the Jyllands-Posten newspaper.

On one of my trips, October 2000, I made my first contact with LeT, quite by accident. I attended their annual convention… I was very impressed with their dedication to the cause of the liberation of Kashmir from Indian occupation.

David also revealed that he had decided to join LeT “full time” following the 9/11 attacks in the US.

Headley on 26/11 Plot

A former drug smuggler, Headley turned informant for the US Drug Enforcement Administration. He did recce for locations ahead of the 26/11 attacks. Recalling the Mumbai terror attack, Headley writes:

The plan was to capture an Indian fishing vessel, which constantly strayed into Pakistani waters, and commandeer it all the way to Mumbai. The hope was that the Indian Coast Guard would not notice an Indian vessel. The boys would carry a GPS device which would guide them directly to the landing site I had selected earlier.

In his jail memoir, 54-year-old Headley also says that LeT encouraged polygamy. Born to an American mother and a Pakistani father, Headley is serving 35 years in jail for his role in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
