Cyclone Vayu is likely to advance northwards and cross the Gujarat coast between Porbandar and Mahuva around Veraval and Diu with a wind speed of 140-150 kmph to 165 kmph on the morning of 13 June.
Cyclone Vayu has intensified into a cyclonic storm and it is very important that people be vigilant about their safety as well as take steps to minimise the damage incurred.

Things to Remember:
- Remain calm and ignore rumours
- Keep your mobile phone(s) charged
- Check the news for weather updates
- Store documents and other valuable items in waterproof containers
- Prepare an emergency kit
- Don't leave sharp objects lying around
- Untie cattle and other animals
What to Do If You Are Indoors During/After the Cyclone:
- Switch off electrical mains and the gas supply
- Keep doors and windows shut
- If your house is not safe, relocate to a safer location before the cyclone’s onset
- Listen to a radio/transistor for updates and information
- Drink only boiled/mineral water
- Rely only on official warnings

What to Do If You Are Outdoors During/After the Cyclone:
- Do not enter any damaged buildings
- Look out for broken electric poles, wires and other sharp objects
- Seek shelter at a safe place as soon as is possible

The National Disaster Management Authority tweeted a list of dos and don’ts that help to tackle Cyclone Vayu. The list has been compiled to ensure safety of those in affected areas.
