1. Girl Killed, 8 Injured in Car Accident in Delhi’s Paschim Vihar

A 16-year-old girl died and eight people were injured on Wednesday after the driver of an SUV lost control and rammed it into several other vehicles near Meera Bagh traffic signal in Delhi’s Paschim Vihar, police said.

The Fortuner hit a cycle, a scooter, a motorcycle, a rickshaw and then a mini-bus before it came to a halt, they added.

According to police, the girl, a pedestrian, died on the spot following the collision of vehicles and eight others, including the SUV driver, were injured.

2. Hours After Kidnapping, Police Track Missing Baby

Hours after a seven-month-old baby was kidnapped from central Delhi and dumped on the tracks at Nizamuddin railway station, local and railway police reunited the boy with his family using ZIPNET (Zonal Integrated Police Network) — an integrated police network to fight trafficking.

According to police, the child’s family lives on the streets near DB Gupta Road in central Delhi. While his mother is blind, the father is handicapped.

On the intervening night of 9-10 November, police said they received a PCR call from the parents that their child had been kidnapped while they were sleeping. A team from the local police station lodged an FIR.

3. Auto Driver Held for ‘Molesting’ US National, Charge Sheet Filed

Delhi Police has arrested a 31-year-old autorickshaw driver for allegedly molesting a US national. Police filed a charge sheet within 24 hours of the arrest, as the woman was leaving the city on 10 November.

JCP (southern range) Devesh Srivastava said the accused, Gaurav Gupta, was picked up from his Sangam Vihar residence on 7 November.

Police said the 24-year-old complainant had come to India on a study tour along with four other US nationals, including her teacher.

4. RLSP Leader Shot Dead, Fourth Party Man to be Killed This Year

Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) block president of Patna’s Paliganj Amit Bhushan Verma was shot dead late on Tuesday while he was at a cultural programme in the area.

Verma is the fourth RLSP leader to be murdered in less than a year, leading party president and Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha to question Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s claims of good governance.

5. Car Hits 3 Cops in West Delhi, 1 Critical

Three traffic cops were injured after a WagonR hit them near west Delhi’s Mundka on Tuesday night. One of the policemen is in critical condition. The errant driver, however, managed to escape after the incident.

According to the police, the injured men have been identified as Satish Kumar, Naveen and Sachin. A case of dangerous driving, causing grievous hurt and the Motor Vehicles Act has been registered against the accused driver.

Initial probe revealed that the incident took place when the three cops were checking vehicles near Nangloi. They had signalled a WagonR car to stop, but the driver, instead of slowing down, accelerated. The car threw the three cops in the air before fleeing.

6. Couple Dupes Traders With ‘Fake’ Raids

Sandhya and her husband left home every morning to conduct ‘raids’ on commercial establishments in the city that were allegedly flouting norms. Only that they had no authority for doing so. The couple had conducted fake raids on several traders but finally got busted by the police on Tuesday evening.

DCP (northeast) Atul Thakur said the couple had formed an NGO called ‘Anti-Corruption Group’ and were extorting money from traders in east and northeast Delhi. They had threatened to expose them and shut down their shops.

On Monday, the duo arrived at a bakery and reprimanded the owner about unhygienic conditions there. They even started making videos of the shop. The accused were, however, exposed when the owner of the bakery doubted their credentials and informed the cops of the ‘raid’.

7. Gzb: Robbers Flee with Valuables Worth Rs 2 Crore

Armed robbers on Wednesday afternoon barged into a jewellery showroom located barely 200 metres from a police station in Sahibabad and fled with cash, gold, silver and diamond jewellery items estimated to be worth around Rs 2 crore. However, the police said the valuation is being done before arriving at a final figure.

The incident took place around 1pm at Prem Shree Jewellers, a showroom located barely 200 metres from the Sahibabad police station at Shyam Park Main locality. Police said the robbers were wearing pollution masks and had covered their faces with a handkerchief to hide their identities.

8. Three Arrested in Stalking Case

Juhu police arrested three persons for stalking a college student and passing vulgar comments on Monday afternoon, when she was travelling with her father, a lawyer, in an auto after meeting friends in Versova.

Vijay Ranim (28), Vikas Londkar (25) and Shravan Lad (24) followed her auto and also made lewd gestures. They were in another vehicle which followed the auto from Versova to Juhu. The victim went to Juhu police station and police registered an FIR.

Police scanned CCTV footage along the route and arrested them from Andheri (east). “The accused were nabbed within a few hours and were produced before Andheri court the next day,” said an officer of Juhu police station.

9. Boy, 5, Dies After Mother Feeds Poison

A minor boy died on Tuesday after being fed rat poison by his mother. Rina Ayare, 34, attempted to commit suicide on Monday by consuming rat poison and fed the same poison to her five-year-old son, Harsh. While Ayare is out of danger, Harsh died on Tuesday, while receiving treatment at Cooper Hospital in Juhu.

“The rat poison caused irreversible damage to Harsh who succumbed to liver failure overnight. Rina’s condition is also critical. She will soon be shifted to the medical intensive care unit. The doctors are still unsure about the quantity of poison the two consumed,” said the assistant medical officer of the hospital.
