1. NRI Woman from South Africa Gang-raped by Tourist Guide, Friend in Mathura

An NRI woman tourist from South Africa was allegedly gang-raped by a guide and his friend in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district.

A case was registered on complaint lodged by a friend of the victim, who has, however, refused to undergo medical examination, putting police in a fix.

Police on Monday, 26 November, arrested the two accused, guide Monu and his friend Vishnu who runs a massage parlour where they took the victim.

As per the complaint, the victim had gone to Gokul area, another pilgrimage centre in Mathura, where she was gang raped by the guide and his friend, Deependra Singh, in-charge of Mahawan police sration in Mathura, said.

2. Indian Student in Canada to Study Hotel Management Found Hanging, Family Suspect Murder

A young man from Punjab was found hanging from a tree outside his home in Canada’s Toronto, where he had gone to pursue a course in hotel management, police there told his family here over phone on Sunday night.

The news of Vishal Sharma’s (21) death has shaken his family in Nabha.

The Canadian police told his father Naresh Sharma that they were investigating the matter and they will report the findings to the family within three days. So far the police there are clueless whether it was murder or suicide.

3.Lucknow: Sub-Inspector ‘Shoots Self’ on Police Station Premises in Bareilly

A sub-inspector allegedly shot himself dead with a revolver on Baradari police station premises, in Bareilly district Monday, 26 November.

The deceased was identified as Satveer Singh Tyagi (54), a native of Amroha. Police said a suicide note has been recovered.

Satveer was in-charge of the store at Baradari police station where items seized in different cases were kept. Homeguard Ved Prakash Gupta was deployed to assist him.

4. Mumbai: Man Posts Obscene Photos on WhatsApp Group, Held

The Matunga police arrested a 24-year-old carpenter on Saturday for allegedly creating a WhatsApp group and posting obscene photos and videos in it.

The police said the accused named the group, XXX. He also added a Matunga-based woman and following that he started posting pornographic material in the group.

A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and IT Act was registered on 19 September, after the 44-year-old woman approached the Matunga police station.

5. Man Stabs Former Girlfriend, Attempts Suicide in Ghaziabad

A man allegedly stabbed his former girlfriend with a knife here and then attempted to commit suicide after she refused to continue their relationship as the accused got married to another woman, police said on Monday, 26 November.

Both of them were admitted to a private hospital. The woman was later referred to AIIMS, New Delhi, as her condition was serious, they said, the man has been put under detention.

City Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar said the woman, a final year law student, had developed intimacy with the accused while attention his tuition classes.

They wanted to get married but the man's parents had objected to it. The man got married to to another woman four months back, he said.

6. Man Duped of Rs 63,000 on Matrimonial Site

The ‘Romance scam’ used by fraudsters to cheat people, claimed one more victim when a Chembur-based man ended up making payments to a ‘US-based woman’, who he had met on a matrimonial website.

However, after making the first payment, 41-year-old Huzefa Bhopalwala suspected something amiss. He realised that he was being trapped by fraudsters when a ‘custom officer from Delhi’ demanded another instalment.

An FIR was registered last week at the Chembur police station but no arrests have been made yet.

7. Man Found Hanging, Woman Found Dead in Flat in Delhi

A man was found hanging while the body of a woman was found at a house in South Delhi's Chhatarpur on Monday, 26 November.

A call was received from a woman that the door of her flat in Suman colony, Chhatarpur Extension, is locked from inside and not being opened, they added.

A team of the Mehrauli police station reached the spot. The front door of the first-floor flat was broke open and it was found that one woman was lying in the inside room with blood oozing from the throat and a man was found hanging from the ceiling fan, said Vijay Kumar, deputy commissioner of police (south).

8. Three Held for Trying to Drag Woman out of Home, Assaulting Others

The Kolkata Police arrested three persons early on Monday, 26 November, for allegedly trying to drag a woman out of her home and assaulting her family members.

Police said the main accused, 43-year-old Basudeb Mondal, had been forcing the woman to get into a relationship with him for the past six months.

Mondal and his accomplices also beat up policemen who had gone there after being informed about the incident.

Mondal and aides reached the woman's residence in Panchasayar area and tried to drag her out, assaulted her husband, her son and other family members when they tried to resist them, a senior police officer said.

9. UP STF Arrests Man Wanted in Multiple Criminal Cases

The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) on Monday arrested a man from Amethi district who was wanted in a number of cases, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, Balbu alias Udaybhan Singh was arrested from Jamo area of Amethi when he came to meet a lawyer and another person, an STF official said.

Bablu was wanted in connection with murder of a Dalit man in February.
