1. Stalker Sets Chennai Techie, Family on Fire

In a shocking incident of a stalker who went on a killing spree, a man in Chennai set the family of a woman – he was obsessing over – on fire. Aakash, who used to study with Indhuja, an engineering graduate, had been stalking her for over a month, claiming he was in love with her. When she didn’t reciprocate, Aakash went to her house on Monday night and set her and her family on fire.

The incident happened at Chennai’s Adambakkam AGS Colony, in Saraswathi Nagar, between 8:45 pm and 9 pm on Monday night. The accused, Aakash, absconded right after, but was caught on Tuesday morning.

2. Bengaluru: Man Beaten by Uber Drivers For Insisting on Seat belts

Around 9.30 pm on Monday, Dave Banerjee and his colleagues boarded the Uber at the Bengaluru airport. “I was sitting in the back and noticed that the buckle had gone inside the gap between the seat and the backrest, so it wasn’t accessible. I told the driver to stop because I wanted to take out the buckle from the back and wear the seat belt,” Dave said.

When, Dave got out of the cab to book another, the driver allegedly gathered a group after speaking to other drivers in Kannada. “I don’t know what he said but I knew we were in trouble,” Dave said. He and his colleagues were then roughed up by the group.

While Uber reached out to Dave Banerjee, he that he hung up when he received a call from them when he heard the word ‘inconvenience’. “You can’t beat people up and then say ‘sorry for the inconvenience’,” he retorts in anger.

Two days after members of the juvenile justice board said he had admitted to killing Pradhyumn Thakur and even explained how he had done so, the Class 11 Ryan International School student held for the 8 September murder told a child protection officer (CPO) he was being framed and hadn't killed anyone.

The student's father accused the CBI of torturing and scaring the boy to own up to a crime "he hasn't committed". "CBI officers had threatened to shoot his entire family if he didn't confess to the murder. It was after this threat that he admitted to the murder," he said.

4. Alwar Killing: Arrested Men Identified as ‘Gau Rakshaks’

The two men arrested for assaulting three villagers who were transporting cows in Govindgarh area early on Friday — one of them, Ummar, 42, died in the attack — have identified themselves as “gau rakshaks” and have confessed to the assault as well as mutilation of Ummar’s body, the Alwar police said on Tuesday.

The police also claimed that Ummar and his two companions, Tahir and Javed, were “habitual” cattle smugglers and were using a stolen pickup truck to transport cows.

“We have arrested Ramveer Gujjar and Bhagwan Singh, both in their 30s, who have confessed to the assault. They are residents of villages which are near the village where the assault took place,” said Alwar Additional Superintendent of Police Mool Singh Rana.

5. Three Held for RSS Activist’s Murder in Kerala

Police on Tuesday arrested three persons who are suspected to be involved in the murder RSS activist V Anand in Kerala’s Guruvayur on Sunday.

Guruvayur police circle-inspector E Balakrishnan, the investigating officer in the case, identified them as Fahiz, 25, the son of Puthuveettil Salim of Brahmakulam; Jitesh alias Raman, 22, the son of Nambarambath Narayanankutty of Brahmakulam; and Karthik, 26, the son of Areekkara Kuttappan of Chowallurpadi.

6. Man Rapes Friend’s Five-Year-Old Daughter in Mathura

A 49-year-old man allegedly raped the five-year-old daughter of his friend in a residential colony of the temple town of Mathura, 58 km from here, after a drinking binge Monday evening, police said Tuesday.

He escaped when the girl shouted for help. The accused who is the father of three grown up children was later arrested by the police.

7. Man Rapes Mentally Challenged Woman in Public Urinal in MP

A 22-year-old youth allegedly raped a mentally challenged woman in a public urinal in Dewas district, nearly 154 km from Bhopal.

The incident occurred in Dulwa village under the jurisdiction of Nemawar police station in the district.

Prabhu Lal Pawar, head constable Nemawar police station said that one 23-year-old mentally challenged woman was raped by one Govind Balai, who hails from Banjari village.

8. Mumbai: 10-Year-Old Abducted, Killed by Relative

A 10-year-old Mumbai boy was kidnapped and murdered by a distant relative who had picked him up from his house on Sunday afternoon saying they would go out to play. The accused, Amar Singh, has been arrested along with an accomplice.

Singh said he had kidnapped Ritesh, a Class 3 student, with the intention of demanding a ransom of Rs 2.5 lakh from his electrician father Babloo. But he is said to have developed cold feet after a worried Babloo called him up to inquire about the boy. Minutes after Babloo's call, Singh, who had taken Ritesh to Bhayander, smashed the boy's face with a boulder at a friend's shop.

9. Rohini Court Shootout Accused Has ‘Neeraj Bawana’ Tattooed on His Chest

A day after a 22-year-old man was arrested for allegedly gunning down an undertrial inside the Rohini court complex, police sources said the accused, Abdul Khan, considers Delhi-based gangster Neeraj Bawana as his “mentor” and has tattooed his name on his chest.

Hours after he was arrested from the spot of the crime, Khan reportedly told police that he killed the undertrial, Vinod alias Ballu, at the behest of an “associate” of Neeraj Bawana.

“We are yet to figure out Bawana’s role in the shootout since the person who asked Abdul to kill Vinod is absconding,” said a police officer.
