116 COVID-19 Deaths in Maharashtra in 24 Hrs, Highest in One Day

Maharashtra Health Department on Friday, 29 May, said, “The state recorded 116 deaths today, the highest number of deaths due to COVID-19 in a single day.”

After talking to the chief ministers of various states, Amit Shah met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday to discuss lockdown strategy.

India recorded the highest one-day spike with 7,466 new COVID-19 cases on Friday taking the case tally to 1,65,799, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. While active cases are at 89,987, as many as 71,105 people have recovered or cured. The death toll is at 4,706.

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday, said that all places of worship will open from 1 June, but not more than 10 people will be allowed, including no assembly at religious places.
