Jammu and Kashmir-based activist Sukesh Khajuria has filed a complaint against Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah and actor Rishi Kapoor for saying that PoK belongs to Pakistan.

The complaint has been filed under section 196 of the CrPC (Prosecution for offences against the State and for criminal conspiracy to commit such offence), reported ANI. A petition has also been filed against Farooq Abdullah in the Delhi High Court. The matter is likely be heard on 20 November.

Farooq Abdullah’s recent comments on PoK had drawn a lot of flak from political parties and the media. In his comments, he had also said that Pakistan is not weak and has nuclear power.

“I tell them in plain terms – not only the people of India, but also to the world – that the part (of J&K) which is with Pakistan (PoK) belongs to Pakistan and this side to India. This won’t change. Let them fight how many wars they want to. This won’t change.”

Farooq Abdullah had made the comment on 11 November.

Responding to Farooq Abdullah on Twitter, Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor had supported him saying that this was the only way to solve the Kashmir problem.

A petition was filed in a Bettiah district court in Bihar against Abdullah, following which the court ordered an FIR to be registered against him on 14 November.

The BJP and its allies had also strongly reacted to Abdullah’s remarks with Union Minister Ravi Shankar Parasad reminding Abdullah that Parliament had passed a resolution that the entirety of Kashmir, including PoK, is part of India and the decision is applicable on members of Parliament.
