Former Solicitor General of India Gopal Subramanium, the chief of the panel probing alleged corruption in the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA), has written a letter to National Security Advisor Ajit Doval seeking his assistance in the much-hyped case.

Subramanium has also sought the names of competent officers to assist in the investigation.

I have written to him because he is the National Security Advisor. Apart from that, he is a very distinguished police officer...he is in the position to identify who are competent people in various organisations and to send names of independent police officers who can investigate meticulously.

Subramanium has demanded five CBI and IB officials each along with Delhi police officials to beef up the team to investigate allegations of corruption in the DDCA. He has sought Doval’s help, claiming the former IB director has “a good idea of the calibre of the officers.”

The noted lawyer said that his request to Doval is part of the inquiry which calls for appropriate “logistical infrastructure” before beginning the probe but did not clarify about the number of officers he has asked for.

The Delhi government has an obligation to probe this case and I am not here to advise either the Delhi government or the Centre.

Subramanium, appointed as a one-man probe commission, has also called for a live telecast of the proceeding of the case in a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday.

The Delhi Cabinet, on 21 December, approved setting up of the one-member Commission of Inquiry under Subramanium to probe alleged irregularities in the DDCA.

The cricket body was headed by Union Finance Minister Jaitley for around 13 years till 2013.
