Amidst the crackdown on illegal slaughterhouses in Uttar Pradesh and the Gujarat Assembly’s amendment to the cow protection law, Chattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh has declared that those who kill cows will be hanged, ANI reported.

His statement was a response to a reporter who asked him if the Chhattisgarh government would take steps to strengthen laws against cow slaughter in the state, following in the footsteps of Gujarat.

Replying to the question, the Chief Minister said, “ Pichle 15 saalon main kuch nahi hua, lekin agar marega toh usko latka denge.” (Nothing has happened in last 15 years, but if it happens then the accused will be hanged.)

This comes immediately after the Gujarat Assembly amended the cow protection law, which, after the Governor’s nod, will result in life imprisonment for offenders.
