There was one sharp classmate of mine.

He was very good at subjects like Political Science and History. He also kept himself informed on national issues and politics.

He had a strong command over Hindi and was, in fact, very famous for his amazing poems, which he loved writing. He was also an amazing public speaker and a very eager student of Social Science. Anything regarding the subject made him smile.

One day I asked him about his future plans. He replied he wanted to be a poet and also said journalism fascinates him the most. I said, “Great!”.

He asked me which stream he should choose after 10th to achieve his dream. “Bhai, you should blindly go for Arts (humanities).” He was very good at Arts.

“Okay Salil, I was also thinking to choose Arts.”

“Yes, it would be good for you.”

“Yes, I will select Arts 100%.”

I was happy for him for chasing his dream. However, his parents didn't allow him to choose arts.

He told his parents that he loved Humanities more than Science but his parents didn't listen to him. For his parents, Humanities was a big NO. But he kept fighting for his love.

His parents told him to select Commerce and in the end he was forced to select it for his plus two.

His parents didn't respect his passion. He was totally broken from the inside. Now he is somehow dealing with the subjects of Commerce.

This must be the worst feeling for a young, inspiring soul. Sadly, his parents killed the happy child inside him.

One message to all those kids who face this type of problem – you are a strong human.
