The Finance Ministry on Wednesday, 30 January, clarified that the budget to be presented by the government will be an Interim Budget, ANI reported.

The clarification comes following media reports and speculations that the central government was set to announce a Full Budget ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in the country. The Congress and other Opposition parties too had reacted to the reports saying it will be “unconstitutional” of the central government to present a Full Budget.

The Budget Session is scheduled to begin on 31 January.

This budget will be the last before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and Parliament will meet for the Budget Session from 31 January to 13 February.
