Bodies of 2 Dalit Sisters Found in UP Pond, Family Alleges Murder
SP Fatehpur, Prashant Verma, said the postmortem report of the two bodies confirmed the cause of death as drowning.
The bodies of two Dalit sisters were found dumped in a pond at a village near Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur, the state police said on Monday, 16 November, reported news agency PTI. The family of the two girls have alleged that they were killed after assailants failed at their attempts to rape them.
SP Fatehpur, Prashant Verma, told ANI on Tuesday evening that the postmortem report of the two bodies confirmed the cause of death as drowning.
According to the report, the sisters, both of whom were below 18 years of age, were allegedly hacked to death, before being thrown into the pond. Their bodies recovered from the pond displayed injury marks in the eyes.
Verma said that rumours are being spread that the girls were found with their eyes gouged out but added that there was no truth in this.
Family members say the two girls had gone to pick vegetables from the field in the afternoon, but did not return home.
Kanpur Girl Found Dead, Liver Missing
Meanwhile, in a chilling incident, a seven-year-old girl was found dead in Uttar Pradesh, with her liver extracted from the body, reported PTI.
According to the police, a childless couple in the victim’s village had paid Rs 1,000 to two residents to perform an occult ritual, hoping to aid conception. The men first kidnapped the girl on Saturday, 14 November, then got drunk and reportedly raped her.
They then extracted her liver in order to offer it to the couple performing the bizarre ritual.
