A BJP leader in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal area has been caught on camera assaulting a differently-abled man with a stick.

In the viral video, BJP leader Mohammad Miya can also be seen trying to shove the stick in the man’s mouth as he is heard saying he will vote for Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.

Miya, who unsuccessfully contested to be the municipal chairperson in Ujhari of Amroha district, assaulted the man inside the collectorate, after the man, identified as Manoj Gujjar, allegedly criticised policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, The Times of India reported.

He shouts “vote denge Akhilesh ko” (Will vote for Akhilesh).

Defending his act, the BJP leader told ANI on Wednesday, 26 December, that he was just trying to make the man leave the place as he was drunk and was abusing Modi and Yogi Adityanath.

“He was abusing Modi ji and Yogi ji. I tried to first explain things, he was drunk, it was a conspiracy to malign BJP. I was just trying to make him leave the place. I didn’t shove the stick in his mouth.”
