The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Karnataka wing on Tuesday filed a complaint with the chief electoral officer against Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani and actor/politician Prakash Raj for allegedly using derogatory remarks and defaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BS Yeddyurappa, BJP’s chief ministerial candidate for Karnataka, according to ANI.

In a letter to the chief electoral officer, the BJP has said that Mevani called the prime minister “a corporate salesman and a thief who has looted the country”.

Further, they have urged the election panel to not let the two hold any indoor or outdoor meetings in the state till the end of polling.

Karnataka will go to polls on 12 May for the 225-member state Assembly while the results will be out on 15 May.
