1. Cops Probing KPL Seek Details of IPL Bengaluru Ties
City Crime Branch sleuths have broadened the scope of their investigation in the Karnataka Premier League match-fixing and spot-fixing case, seeking details of IPL matches held in Bengaluru.
The CCB on Monday wrote to the Karnataka State Cricket Association and the seven KPL franchises seeking information about the league and its stakeholders. Of the CCB’s 18 posers to the KSCA, one is on the Indian Premier League that seeks details of all IPL matches held in Bengaluru in the previous two seasons.
This translates into information about Royal Challengers Bangalore’s 14 home games during the period. Investigators have also asked for scoresheets of KPL matches held in 2018 and 2019 and the names and contact details of the players who participated in KPL during the period.

2. Doctors Declare Attacked MLA out of Danger
Former Minister and Congress MLA Tanveer Sait was declared out of danger on Tuesday after doctors found significant improvement in his health. Mr. Sait was hospitalised after an assailant inflicted grievous injuries on his neck by striking him with a machete late on Sunday night.
“There is a lot of improvement in his general health condition today compared to yesterday. He even got down from the bed and sat on the chair for some time,” said Upendra Shenoy, Medical Superintendent, Columbia Asia Hospital, Mysuru.
The functioning of the kidney that was a source of concern to the doctors on Monday had also improved on Tuesday. It may take two to three more days for him to be shifted out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to the ward.

3. Australian Tourist Assaulted in Karnataka for Allegedly Misbehaving With Women
A 35-year-old Australian tourist was assaulted by a group of residents of a village in Bagalkot district of Karnataka after he allegedly misbehaved with women in the village.
The incident occurred at 9:30 pm on Monday night when William K James, a resident of Melbourne, was tied up and assaulted by some residents of Kondanakoppa village near Badami.
"The tourist was alone and had taken a bus ticket to travel from Badami to Bagalkot. We are trying to determine why he got down from the bus and was found in an interior village. The residents in the village alleged that he misbehaved with women, and in response, attacked him," Bagalkot SP Lokesh Jagalasar told TNM.

4. Officers Face Rs 1L Fine for Failing to Stop Illegal Constructions
The Karnataka government has notified punishment to jurisdictional officers for failing to stop unauthorized or illegal constructions within the limits of city corporations, including BBMP, the Karnataka high court was informed.
The Karnataka Municipal Corporations (levy of penalty on jurisdictional officer for failure to prevent unauthorized construction and deviation) Rules 2019, published on November 16, prescribes penalties ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 1 lakh. However, jail term is not prescribed. A copy of the notification was submitted to the court.
For first-time offence, the guilty will be penalised Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000. For the second offence, the fine will be Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh. For the third and subsequent offences, the commissioner may initiate action under Section 90 of KMC Act depending on the gravity of misconduct or negligence or violation.

5. North East Monsoon Weakens Over State
After a bountiful monsoon, Karnataka is witnessing a waning of the post monsoon rains. The north east monsoon is said to have weakened, resulting in a break for rains.
C.S. Patil from India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bengaluru, said the north east monsoon was ‘weak’ at present. “Last week, there were two or three cyclones that formed over the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea. This cooled the oceans. The ocean temperatures should be high to cause rains. This takes time,” he said. However, Mr. Patil said light rains are approaching in the next three or four days over south interior Karnataka.
The north east monsoon is particularly important for parts of Karnataka, like drought-hit Kolar and Bengaluru, and States like Tamil Nadu. “In fact, 70-80% of the rainfall that Tamil Nadu gets is from the north east monsoon,” he explained.
