1. Mangaluru Airport Adjudged India's Cleanest

The Mangalore International Airport has been adjudged the cleanest airport in the country. Airport director VV Rao received the award during the 23rd annual day celebrations of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in New Delhi on Sunday.

In the survey conducted across 53 airports in the country by AAI, Mangaluru airport was adjudged the cleanest. A team of officials from AAI had inspected the airport terminal, parking area, toilets, commercial stalls, the road leading to the airport and customer lounge.

Durga Facility Management Services Private Limited is in charge of cleanliness at the Mangaluru airport.

2. Sasikala Back in Prison Before End of Parole

VK Sasikala, a close aide of Jayalalithaa, serving a prison sentence in Bengaluru, returned to prison on Saturday, four days before her 15-day parole was to end.

Somashekhar, jail superintendent, Central Prison, Parappana Agrahara, confirmed that Sasikala had returned to the jail on Saturday evening, but provided no explanation for her early arrival.

Sasikala was granted parole of 15 days on March 20 following the death of her husband M Natarajan. She was staying at Arulananda Nagar house in Thanjavur during the parole period and left for the prison as Natarajan’s obsequies were completed on Friday, sources said.

3. Ongoing Civic Works Take a Hit as BBMP Cites Model Code of Conduct

Be it pending road works, clearing of garbage, defunct streetlights or overflowing drains, citizen complaints to civic agencies are falling on deaf years.

Civic officials are citing election work or the model code of conduct for their inability to concentrate on routine work. Residents on the other hand say their complaints aren’t related to new projects which must be stalled due to the model code of conduct, but those that have already been taken up and are stuck for various reasons.

4. Bengaluru Police Catch Cash Custodian Who Made Away with Rs 52 lakh From an ATM

Bengaluru police arrested a 24-year-old cash custodian after he coolly disappeared with Rs. 52 lakh that was meant to replenish an ATM kiosk in Marthahalli.

Paramesh, a resident of Goraguntepalya in the city worked for a private cash management company that had taken up a contract to fill up ATMs of banks including ICICI Bank and State Bank of India.

Paramesh took Rs 52 lakh to load the ICICI ATM near Thulasi Chitra Mandira in Marthahalli but found that the ATM was not in working condition. Instead of returning the money, he took it home with him and did not report to work that day.

He returned to work the next day and did not report the incident to his superiors who believed he had filled the ATM kiosk with Rs 52 lakh.

5. Mysuru City Police Website Hacked, Pakistan Zindabad Message Flashed

The official website of Mysuru City police was hacked by unidentified persons on Sunday. The hacking incident came to light when the website flashed message Pakistan Zindabad upon logging in.

The miscreants had created a new page on the website reading Mysuru City Police website - Govt of India #hacked. The hackers also published a photo of faceless people stomping their feet on the tricolour.

After a few residents brought the hacking incident to the notice of police, the city police have removed the post. The website started functioning as usual after the page was removed in the afternoon.

6. Tipsy Passengers a New Worry for Metro Staff

An increasing number of tipsy passengers on Namma Metro, given that train services are available till 11 pm, have become a headache for security staff.

There have been several instances of drunk passengers causing a nuisance, particularly at night. On Thursday night, for instance, a drunk passenger got into an argument with security staff at Attiguppe Metro station on the East-West corridor after which they stopped him from boarding the train.
