Widespread violence broke out in Bengaluru on Monday over the Supreme Court’s order to release Cauvery river water to Tamil Nadu. That led to the local police imposing prohibitory orders under Section 144 as a preventive measure.
However, amidst the madness, a few known names from Bengaluru’s IT industry and otherwise took to Twitter urging for sanity.
Outside Twitter, too, they appealed to people in both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu to not indulge in violence.
Speaking to Times Now, Mohandas Pai, former member of the board of directors of IT giant Infosys, appealed to citizens in the states to maintain peace.
He further urged the authorities to crack down on elements disrupting normal life. He said, “Violence has no place in a civilised society, and if you are indulging in violence, you will face the law.”
