Ban On Diesel Cars Is Temporary: Arun Jaitley

  • Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who is visiting Japan to meet investors and policymakers, played down the ban on diesel cars in the capital, labelling it a “transient phase”.
  • Jaitley, who is currently in Japan for a 6-day visit and scheduled to meet Suzuki Motor Chairman Osamu Suzuki on 31 May, said that India is too large a market for the ban to adversely affect Suzuki.
  • Jaitley was asked about the meeting with Suzuki after the ban by the National Green Tribunal on diesel vehicles of over 2,000 cc in Delhi and Kerala to curb pollution.
