On Thursday in Jaipur, an additional superintendent of police (ASP) of the anti-terrorist squad (ATS) allegedy killed a woman who was "blackmailing" him before committing suicide.
Both the bodies were found with bullet wounds on their foreheads. ASP Ashish Prabhakar, 42, and the unidentified woman were found dead in a locked SUV near Bombay Hospital in Jagatpura area, Jaipur, late night.
Police sources said that after shooting the woman, who was in her late twenties, Prabhakar pulled the trigger on himself, according to news reports. He used his service revolver to commit the crimes.
Prabhakar reportedly left a long suicide note apologising to his wife for having chosen "the wrong path" and it also said that the woman was "blackmailing" him, said a Hindustan Times report.
After forensics probed the crime scene and conducted a post mortem of the bodies, preliminary investigation revealed the two met after work and were roaming in the city and a heated argument might have followed which led to the incident. Two bullet marks were found on the car.
Prabhakar had called the police control room to check for a suspicious SUV before committing suicide, and at around 8 pm, a passerby called the police about the bodies. Prabhakar's wife had also reported him missing.
A suitcase was recovered by the police which had ATS-related documents. Prabhakar have recently joined duty after receiving 10 months of training at the Rajasthan Police Academy.
