Twenty-three-year-old Ankit Saxena’s girlfriend, in a video that emerged on Friday, 2 February, said that she was “afraid” of her own family and what “they will do to her”, after they had been accused of his murder. Ankit was allegedly murdered by his Muslim girlfriend’s family on 1 February.

She said that she heard from people that her family and her maternal uncle were responsible for Ankit’s murder.

In the video, she claims that she was on her way to meet Ankit when someone told her that his throat was slit. The girl also claimed that Ankit called her to get married on the day the incident occurred.

The girl also added that while she was not present when Ankit was murdered, people told her that it was her family members who were responsible for the murder.

The girl’s family allegedly attacked Ankit, a photographer by profession, when he was returning home from work, at a crossing near his house. The attackers reportedly slashed Ankit’s neck with a sharp weapon after beating him up.

Passersby immediately alerted Ankit’s mother of the attack, and she rushed out of the house to see her son being stabbed.
