Airlift: Real-Life Hero’s Granddaughter Shares His Story on FB

Akshay Kumar’s latest release Airlift is based on an event in 1990 when thousands of Indians were stranded in war-torn Kuwait. Few Indians picked up arms to help them reach home.

On the day of the movie’s release – 22 January – the granddaughter of one of those who fought for the safety of the helpless Indians shared his story on Facebook.

Rhea Mathews, grand-daughter of Messiah Mathews, talks about his struggle as he was one of the few who picked up guns.

My grandfather stayed through the turmoil of it all and put his life at risk to secure safety for all those he could help. He is a great man and through all his success has always stressed on the importance of humility, gratitude and love, especially to those not so fortunate.
