Days after Border Security Force jawan Tej Bahadur spoke out about poor facilities and living conditions in the barracks, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan, Jeet Singh, has made an appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In a selfie video, Singh alleges that CRPF jawans are deprived of a number of facilities, despite the fact that the force is deployed for every event – big or small.
Lok Sabha elections, Rajya Sabha elections, even the local gram panchayat elections – CRPF jawans are always present. Even after working so much, there’s a stark difference between the facilities the Indian Army and the CRPF gets.
Singh alleged that while government school teachers get decent salaries and leaves during festival time, the CRPF is deployed in conflict zones, without even welfare or holidays.
The Indian Army gets pension while the CRPF is no longer eligible for pension, ex-serviceman quota, canteen facilities or medical, despite working the most, Singh said.
The jawan said he was positive that Prime Minister Modi was listening to his appeal.
In a statement, the CRPF said it has taken cognisance of Jeet Singh's video.
He (Jeet) has not complained about any organisation, only voiced his aspiration.
